That is pretty bad, why anyone would wanna drive at those speeds on a public road is beyond me.

just saw this in the paper. Bloody horrible. I'm sorry to say, but whether you die or not because of this, there's nothing on earth that should stop anyone who reads about this saying that he is a bloody idiot. I guess everyone that was sharing the road with him this morning better buy a lottery ticket. He did something extremely stupid, and paid the ultimate price. But that doesn't mean that he can be put up on some kind of pedastool and is not allowed to be judged..

Yeah well said. I think the part about the car being more advanced than 90% of drivers is very true and of course majority would think they are great or heroe enough to be in the 10% but I highly doubt it. Only a Supercar driver or someone around or beyond that level would be a driver that can take that car to the limit and know the limit and when to stop. Whats everyones proffesional racing portfolio? Alot of people on here read that its only a second or so quicker than a GTP but the fact is that car will climb from 200-250kmh as quick as a GT will climb from 150kmh -200kmh. It is a supercar. Its not immune from an accident and who knows what happened anyway? Obviosly he was in the wrong to be speeding by so much but lets not assume he lost it. He may have had a truck pull out or a car block the road and he had nowhere to go so ran off the road to try avoid a multi car collision...Lets not judge. |

We know what he was doing, we have a forum member here, crannersEL, who WITNESSED the ferrari driving in an unsafe manner. You telling me I can't judge him, because he may have had an unexpected event happen in front of him that made him crash? The fact is, he shouldn't have been travelling that fast, or in the way he was, in the first place. It's that simple. |

Very very stupid, and a terrible situation. Condolences to families concerned, thank goodness this idiot did not kill a third party other than the innocent passenger.
Incidents like this upset me as my best friend was killed by a negligent motorist in similar circumstance. He was a pedestrian on a footpath. Quote:

i've travelled up that stretch of road dozens of times, when i used to live out that way. the warby highway is two lanes in a lot of areas, 80 and 90km/h from memory (probably changed now though) and is a sequence of straights and bendy hill climbs/descents.. It's a moron's paradise really. There are a lot of houses along it too, so it was quite literally suicidal to drive that fast on that road.
After having read another article, i also feel for the boyfriend of the girl who was killed. Such a stupid waste.

just because the 2 cars were seen taking off together doesn't mean that they were drag racing AT the time of the accident!!!!, how many here have gotten a head of some one and kept on going?, I know I have!

It's not the first time a fatal has happened around there though from what I remember, Maroondah Hwy is a bit dangerous too.
But ANY car at that speed would have killed you, don't know why some here emphasise so much on it being a Ferrari! News said it was a 27 year old (not 22) woman who was only supposed to go for a quick drive. Sad loss all the same :(

I have already put 2 posts in here warning about posting absolute crap and showing disrespect to those who are affected. I have started to delete those posts which are rubbish.
heljas and gthofan's posts were fine, they were only edited because it referenced the quote I deleted If the posts dont contain sensible comments they will be deleted, or the thread closed |

The all knowing news just reported that the driver of the Ferrari was a good driver so they assume the Ford clipped it or hit it and that's why the Ferrari crashed
And have we all forgotten that Cranners saw this Ferrari before the accident "speeding" excessively - he did not see a Ford GT and I am very certain if he did he would of said so So this Ferrari was speeding excessively before the alleged "drag race" Does it say anywhere which set of lights where the alleged drag race started from? Was it even near where the Ferrari crashed. As previously said the Ford may not have even been anywhere near when or where the incident happened. Unless this Ford has some red paint on it I can not see how he or she can be charged with anything unless there are numerous witness's that saw it speeding. Anyway its all alleged at the moment, I am sure in good time we will find out exactly what happened. RIP to the (Angie)Female Passenger and the (Paul)Ferrari Driver

Aaah was waiting for it, yes it does thrill, but my sig does not say, "speed on public roads" or "talk about a fatal acident on the net and have a go at people who have died" when they are not alive to defend themselves its a low act. My post was not saying that it was right or wrong to speed on a public road by the way, i was saying that making jokes and having ago at people who have died (weather its from speeding, drag racing, or a heart attack!) and you know very well that there are people on this site who know them is just absolutly stupid and garbage like it should not be posted up.

Its a dreadful thing that has happened and I have found some comments both amusing and disgraceful!
Its sad that this has happened and you feel for all involved, but who hasn't pushed the envelope from time to time, maybe not to that extreme, but you have to think of the level of life he would have lead. He was at the top of his game. People are saying he was a dreadful driver, etc... How many knew his skills, even Craig Lowndes has accidents... Anybody heard of Aryton Senna, recognised as one of the greatest drivers in the world?? He messed up too... Once!! |

just remember guys, it could have been any car, why is it that a ferrari crashes, we are all shocked?? it could have even been a mazda 323 pulling 150 kmph!!! its not the point that a ferrari crashed, the point should be that such ridiculous speeds were achieved on the open road.

first of all, my sincere thoughts and wishes to the families of those who have been taken so tragically.
what gets me is how many people are having a go at the parties involved in this when they don't know any of the victims. i bet the 'attitudes' would be different if they were someone they knew... i have read some nice posts on here by a few users, which i think is fantastic that others that didn't know anyone involved can show honest compassion, but some others need to grow up, look past WHAT AND HOW it happened, and show some respect to those that have lost their lives and their loved ones that are left behind. after all, the driver was a father of 4 young girls. i live only a 2k's of the scene, and i'm not commenting any further. |

Heard on the radio this afternoon, that the Police are going to check all the Silver GTs with orange stripes and check there whereabouts when this incidence happened.
Cheers John

It's going to keep them pretty busy, that's one of the most popular GT combinations... lightning strike with orange stripes. Could also have been an xr8 with stripes, or xr6 even. Unless they have 100% ID from a few different people ?

Updated story link below - now the cops are looking for a "high-performance car with orange racing stripes".
I reckon they should ban those racing stripes - they are known to cause people to race their cars on public roads, and they DO make cars go faster..just ask Harold "Screw-loose" Scruby!! http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sto...43-661,00.html |
