The FGX XR6 Turbo Limited Edition, is still nothing more than a media beat up.
Unless Ford Australia gives an official media statement. Then its fact, end of story. |

If the bean counters feel they can make money off a limited run turbo then they would go for it, limited runs are always good to get rid of a few hundred body shells like they did with the XC Cobras.

The F6 has always struggled to get off of the line quickly and records times the same as and some times slower than the XR6T. The bigger turbo also gives slightly more lag. Down the black top times are comparable with a standard GT in the high 12s although like the GT there are cars that run much quicker. Rspec and GTF with wider wheels and launch control will do mid 4s 0-100s, 4.3 is my fastest and low 12s passes. Fastest Rspec I have heard about did consistent 12.1s at Geelong Speed thing a few weeks ago and was the fastest stock car there. Theres a fella here who has done that in an F6 as well so with wider wheels and Launch control, suspension etc a 310 XR6T special has every chance of being the Quickest Falcon ever. Tuned GTs need 50-80rwkw more to run the same times down the quarter as an F6. There have been guys running 10s passes with just 350rwkw.

F6 Auto, in a 2008 issue of MOTOR :- 5.36 sec to 100 kmh and 13.37 for the 400 metres. Location I believe was Cootamundra airport and temperature was up to about 14 degrees C. F6 Manual, November 08 issue of MOTOR :- 5.44/13.49 sec. F6 Auto, August 09 issue of MOTOR :- 5.31/13.31 sec. Temp 11 degrees. Wakefield Park, approx 650 metres altitude. F6 Auto Ute, January 11 issue of MOTOR :- 4.92/13.09 sec. WSID, approx 19 degrees I believe, and a 1200 rpm stall. F6 Auto in a 2008 issue of WHEELS I believe :- 5.0/13.06 sec. Down the sloped main straight at Oran Park. Light driver and passenger in the car on this occasion, temperature approx 10 degrees. F6 Manual, November 10 issue of WHEELS I believe :- 5.4/13.4 sec. F6 Auto, August 11 issue of WHEELS :- 5.0/13.14 sec. Avalon airport. Temperature up to about 18 degrees. F6 Auto, June 14 issue of WHEELS :- 5.0/13.0 sec. WSID, light driver. A G6E Turbo Auto was tested in the WHEELS November 10 issue at WSID :- 5.1/13.3 sec, 17 degrees. This is the other test that was apparently done 2 up. Interestingly at the same time a Commodore Calais V Redline was tested and it's times were 5.7/13.8 seconds. So the F6 times all seem a lot slower than the 12.3 that SpoolMan mentioned, but I'd say there are two main reasons for that. 1) A car can get a lot of rollout at the start (ie movement of the car before the timing system starts the 1/4 mile time count) and a Falcon/Commodore sized wheel can get up to about 15 inches. eg Around the end of 2010 WHEELS published a test of a 335 kW GT Auto (at WSID) and the cars time to 100 was 5.28 seconds with a 400 metre time of 13.26 seconds. However on this occasion the Dragstrip timing gear was also used to measure the cars 1/4 mile time. As I recall it was in the 12.9 sec bracket and I'm pretty sure it was 12.92 sec, a difference of 3.4 tenths. Also when I ran my own stock (untuned) FG XR 6 Turbo Auto at WSID recently, the grip level was reasonably good so I was able to get a 12.509 second 1/4 mile timeslip, but the 400 metre time was actually 12.84 seconds (measured with the same model of accurate GPS based RACELOGIC Performance Box that MOTOR have been using). So again the Dragstrip timeslip was a few tenths lower. I also tried a run launching in second gear and got a 12.731 second timeslip, whereas the Performance Box time was 12.97 seconds (the 0-100 times of the two runs were 4.62 and 4.85 seconds). 2) Lack of grip, in the case of the 335 kW GT Auto mentioned above in 1), that run was also done with a second gear launch, apparently that was the best time they could get because of low grip. The 335 kW supercharged engine, as well as the F6's and standard FG Turbo's have clearly got the power to be a lot quicker than the magazine test times, they just need more grip to make full use of the grunt that they've got and hopefully an improved XR6 T (if it comes) will be able to show that. I know that with my car, the difference between around a 1300 and 2300 rpm stall can be up to almost half a second to 40 kmh and beyond (0.48 sec), but that only works when there is enough grip. My LE XR6T 310 would have all th R-Spec gear off the 8 except the mags would be staggered ex GT-P style rims painted gloss black. I reckon either a black edition with some lairy lookin 310BLACK. badges in red.. Or all colors options named a 310SPRINT. The piano black interior would be back as well, something I wish they'd done with the XR8...
Stripes belong on V8 FPV's full stop IMO....The F6 has always had that slick flat bonnet with a big front mount n discreet rear spoiler, a look that had many V8 drivers shakin in their seats for many years lol. So unchanged FGX XR6T body would be my pick. My preference would be a 310BLACK (badges small n in red on back/grille) brake callipers in red and a big shiny intercooler up front. I liked the GT BLACK but to me it was just short of the mark. With a tiny bit of red, the slick FGX6 look and that big shiny cooler up front n dark tint to compliment the blackness id have a deposit on one that day even if it meant pullin out on the XR8!! |

At this stage ford Australia has not confirmed it is going to happen, and has not informed us of it, you have to be searching here or reading the reporters stories to know about it. I hope it does come out, especially as they did nothing special to finish the f6

That r spec couldnt have been stock at the speed trials. What rubber did it have?
Best gtf did was a 12.9. It was a true 400m. They changed it for this year, previously it was 363m i think. |

Wheels got 12.6 in a manual R- Spec and EVO Magazine got 12.6 in a Manual GT-F. An auto in the right hands should go very low 12 quite easily.

Why would you expect a salesman selling brand new cars to know about a ten year old Territory? It's not like they get training on old models. Same applies for the previous comment about the salesman not knowing what a Tickford badge is.

I'd buy a car off a salesman who knew a bit of history rather than one who doesn't. I dunno, for me it's about being enthused about what you're selling and if you don't know what a Tickford badge is then you probably don't care about the product as much as screwing me out of my money...

I'm pretty confident this car will happen, the next question is will they also do it in ute form?
It would be a fitting send off for the I6 and last falcon ute. Unlike the 335 5.0 in the XR8, the 310 I6 has already been used in the FG F6 ute so there is no reason why they can't do a limited edition ute also. Fingers crossed. |

Considering the F6 ute faded away a good 18months before the F6 sedan did id be surprised if they did do one.
