I’m having difficulty restocking with the preferred tissues. I buy one box every few weeks for the old man to use in pursuit of smearing his food even further around his face. They’re not really useful, but he gets more difficult to placate if there isn’t a box to hand. Today I tried a couple more shops - no go. It really is a farce, but an inconvenient one now.

Depends what your preferred Tissue is.
Recently found Aldi had a really decent stock of Kleenex available .... while everywhere else was empty.

Wonder what people did before there were little boxes of soft paper? How badly inconvenienced they must've been.

See that Woolies and Coles are refusing to take back the excessive amounts of toilet rolls, pasta.canned food etc. that the d***s have bought before they realised how stupid they were.

Spectacularly missing the point!

There is no shortage of anything, there are members of the community stock piling huge amounts of groceries.

They do this with the full knowledge that their panic buying creates problems with the supply chain.

What happens when there actually is a problem and the community is asked to assist by only buying what you need?

We have just seen how generous Australians can be after the bush fires. Some people need to have a look at themselves, and relax.

That's what makes this panic buying so stupid. It was never going to be an issue until the morons started the panic buying, and the sheep followed.

Plus the scumbags trying to make a dollar out of it by selling toilet rolls on ebay. I wonder wether they have even sold any?

Hopefully they haven't, and they get stuck holding onto a years supply of toilet paper for no reason.

A true story. the other night I recalled a story that my dad told me a story/joke when I was a young grasshopper.

He said son, how do you how to wipe your backside with one piece of toilet paper?

A puzzled look in reply.

(Use your minds eye here)

1. He said take your piece of toilet paper (one sheet) and place it in front of you.

2. Now fold the bottom left corner up to the top right corner making a triangle.

3. Now take the bottom right corner and fold it up to the top left corner. You now have a smaller triangle with the point facing you.

4. At the point that is nearest to you now tear a very small semi-circle from the tip of the triangle.

5. Now put the little bit you tore from the triangle to one side as you will need to use this later. (it should be around the size of a 5c piece)

6. Unfold the sheet of toilet paper and locate the hole in the centre (also about the size of that 5c piece) and place your middle finger through the hole.

7. Gently wipe your backside with your finger as the toilet paper will protect your hands from getting covered in sheite.

8. Now that you have finished wiping your backside, remember that little circle of toilet paper that we saved from before? That's for cleaning the sheite out from underneath your fingernail and you are done.

-

A very true story that my dad told me that joke, just didn't think I would ever need to remember it until the great dunny paper raids on our supermarkets.

The Wife asked me to stop and grab some toilet paper today as we are legit down to our last couple of rolls and I have to be honest, never, and I repeat, never, did I think i'd find myself feeling guilty about dropping a 12 pack of toilet paper in my trolley until today.

On another note, I heard a story from a friend yesterday which made me really ****ed off, she's an Asian chick who stops to talk to me while im waiting for my afternoon pickup and she was really upset that some flog in the local supermarket embarrassed her in front of a crowd of people by shouting out something about Corona Virus and toilet paper as she walked by. The irony is that although she has Chinese heritage and looks Asian, she's a first generation Australian born in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here in SA and speaks as bogan Aussie as the next person, she said she's never even been to China.

This stuff really is showing the true colours of many Australians.

Well, in my father’s case, his first stroke (1998) would have been the end of him as the pre tissue era also preceded a lot of medcal advances... So - no dementia, nor the tissue obsession that it has engendered.

What an eye opener heading out to the shops with the Mrs today.
Still no bog roll and people furiously scrubbing trolley handles at a little sanitizing station by the entry.
Saw my first person wearing a face mask aswell, walked up behind him a coughed loudly, lol.

Yeah, probably shouldnt be fake coughing around already over precautios people, theyre paranoid enough. I worked last night to fix the failed 'fail safes' in an office that i had to bypass a number of weeks back. Today that office was completely empty because the company was doing a worst case scenario trial. Every person working from home and remotely logging into the system, phone system 100% diverted to mobiles etc. Dunno how that experiment went. I say empty office, but 1 bloke was in. The network engineer who flew down from queensland. It gave him the freedom to make a map of every data port thats patched and remove all the unnecessary patch leads in the mess that is (was) the comms racks. Realistically the only 'lockdown' strategy ive seen an office trial that appears reasonable is on office i work in their plan for worst case is for every workstation of say 8 desks, day by day alternate 50% of that workstation work from home so no people sit either directly beside anyone or directly accross from people. The company i work for has been affected a bit by clients precautions. In general there are a lot more video conferences happening in the offices i work in because they are trying to limit contact with outside people, thats fair enough. But im an elecrrician, so work has really slowed due to clients limiting outsider contact. So they'll live with lights out, or anything that doesnt directly affect their trading. Also small additions they put off for the moment. So that leaves me looking for jobs. That part i dont really mind, its a break from being flat out all the time. My issue stems from when they develop a vaccine and all goes back to normal. Im going to be busier then the 1 armed bricklayer in bagdad.

What about emergency legislation that obligates suppliers of loo paper to print smeary poo-brown stripes on every sheet?

That should reduce the appeal to hoarders.

Nah, they'll just paint poo brown lines down their walls to match the 3 years worth of tp they bought.

Vaccines take time. It's estimated to be about 12-18 months before we see one, best case scenario.

Meh **** him he'd be the kind buying up all the bog rolls and tinned food not giving a toss about the rest of us that live in the real world. Bet he's got a big stash of those face masks aswell at the cost of people that use them as legit PPE for work.

There was a punchup in the mall where my wife works over toilet paper, they even offered my wife to place the one pack of toilet paper she did purchase as part of our normal shop into a bag so she was not harrassed leaving the shops.

Soon I will need to bodyguard the trouble n strife to do the weekly shop.

I have to say I thought the great toilet paper rush would be over by now.
You couldn't pay me enough to go into a corona infested cesspool of people fighting for toilet paper.
On it goes, I'll wait in my bunker until all the hoarders are coughing their guts up at home before venturing out to forage for essentials.

That yarn has been around since WW1, must have been some wag in the trenches. My old man was told that yarn in 1920 by a returned AIF bloke.

Depends on delivery rate. Assuming oxygen delivery rate of 1l/minute, a G size bottle has 3455l (about 56 hours).

However, a person requiring continuous oxygen will be on a portable oxygen concentrator, which can deliver (depending on models) between 1-5l/minute indefinitely. The critical factor then becomes access enduring AC supply. The backup battery is the limiting factor (usually 3 to 9 hours depending on the model and O2 demand).
