I heard a story about a young English guy back in the 60’s. He didn’t want to stand around, his mates sports car was nearby and he thought that he’d rest his bum on the boot.

The problem was that the sports car was an AC Cobra (289 Mk II?). They had lightweight aluminium panels over a light steel frame, the aluminium was so light gauge that if you didn’t have fender liners the front and rear guards would show little “pimples” from little stones kicked up from the road.

After this mishap (and paying for a new bootlid and painting) he was very careful what he leant on after that.

Lol, serious???

I gotta admit, if im standing around at a mate's place or similar, anytime we are congregated around one of our cars, i'll usually take a lean. But only if i know the owner is ok with it and also very very careful (nothing in back pockets, dont slide around on it etc etc)

Would never, in a million years, take a lean on a stranger's car. That's just weird.

I had this feral hit my EA with her door, put a nice little dint on the drivers door (the only straight panel on the car). i was sitting in the car at the time eating lunch, and i just gave her an evil look, then the feral just starts abusing me for looking at her (im sure she would only ever get nasty looks) so i just wound up the window and finished my big mac, when she got back to her car she would have found pickles and a thickshake on her windscreen... bi@tch
Another one left a 6 pack of jim beam on the roof of my car while they were talking on the other side of their car, so i grabbed it, pulled out a can and backed out, when i drove off, i held one of them up and said '' Hey look, someone left these on my car, what a nice gift'' and drove off...hahaha

I absolutely hate it. My cars burgandy and tiny scratches show up easily. At Phillip Island for the V8's last year I had my car parked in the first line along the fence with a rotunda thing over the back half so we didnt get burnt and the people who parked next to us (who had a ute with chairs in) decided to lean against my car.
I asked him if he could please moved off the car as I didnt want scratches and he got all angry and said I shouldnt of parked it there.
I said I didnt mind him standing in the shade, just not on the car.
Some people have no respect for other peoples cars. They treat there cars like crap so they treat everyone elses the same.

I was attending an advanced driving course with my Fairlane at Calder and me and about ten other students all got out to listen to the instructor who was at my car. Everyone then came over and leaned on my car for the lesson. I didn't wanna say anything but I was a little surprised.

meh, there are benefits to having an old girl with original paint, i have no qualms about sitting on the bonnet and really dont care if people lean on it, panels were much thicker in the 60s.

The most tragic occurs at show and shines.
The cars are roped off, and the morons go throught the barriers and foul the cars.

Last year some little shyte of a four year old was knocking on the shaker assembly, whilst surrounded by mummy dimwit and daddy idjit.
I politely say. "Hey tell the kid to stop knocking on the car as there is on one home there"

mummy and daddy laugh and mummy says, "Dosen't Mark look cute doing that"

I say " Can you stop him from doing that, I told you no one live there"

whilst little sprog continues their knocking, daddy says " He is not doing any harm"

I say, honestly word for word, " Mark will look cute with my foot up his bum, and how would you like me to knock on your head and see if anyones home"

I dont know if was the others who rallied around in my defence or to stop me from slapping them, but the sudden appearance of 5 other folks got some sort of message across and the three stooges quickly exited via stage left. out:

No one wants a novel, but thats a pretty key piece of information you left out, prob a bit more important than how much your dates dress cost.
But you'd really do the same thing, even after your date got hurt??

My friends know not to lean on my car or put stuff on it. But at parties people think, oh its a wagon no one cares about his car" I approach them and they act all cool until I tell to get off. They think its a joke. Some big bloke driving a wagon. I soon convince them.

and today i actually got angry with someone..
my car is at a mechanics getting some work done, and they had a guy come in to help with the electrics. after he finished, he was standing next to the car, talkin a bit, and had the front door open.. then he started to lean on the door.. i didnt say anything, but i kept looking at the hinges and cringing.

it shouldnt matter where you park. people should have at least a little respect for other peoples property. if they wanted a leaning post then they should park their piece of **** there.

no offence to anyone that takes it to heart

NYE party, my car was parked out front and a few chicks i kind of knew had come around and were sitting out front.. On my bonnet. Asked em to get off and why and they told me to stop being such a tightarse.. I had a close look at my bumper and two nice big scratches had taken the paint off (which had just being done a couple weeks before)..

Irks me.

That and people leaning on doors.. My panel beater said if he had a dollar for everytime he's had to straighten up doors/hinges from people leaning against them he'd be a rich man..

A few things
First is that my parents ed xr8 has massive scratch lines across the top of the boot from some shieler at the shops putting her bags on it while she opens her boot, then to make it worse she doesn't lift them off but slides them across it.
The second also involves the xr8 when two blokes decide to have a bit of a blew on the street outside the leagues club, and one thinks its a good idea to slam the other guys head into the rear guard causing a hole the size of a bowling ball.
I also dislike door slammers and people who lean on the doors to get in and out of the car. ing_sm
Cheers Phil

I cant stand it and i dont know why people do it. Its so disrespectful and it can damage paintwork. Most people love there cars even if they are nothin flash to someone else its still your pride and joy so when someone comes and leans all over it you have the right to get ****ed off

I don't know who in their right mind would lean on someones car they didn't know - I wouldn't even think of leaning on a strangers car or touching it with bags or anything like that.

However if it is someone I know I couldn't car less if they leant on my car or I leant on theirs. Its a freaken car, you know the person, get over it - I really dont understand why some of you would get so upset over it - kinda really seems a bit strange to me.

"his excuse was that he thougt it was a taxi. and being smart a$$ed about it.
he deserved a punch in the face really"

Why do some people think it's OK to hit taxis????

It costs me thousands of dollars every year for drunken and sometimes sober (expletives) who punch, kick, slap, throw rocks, beer cans etc at my taxis.
Unfortunately cops are not very interested even when given a picture of the idiot from the cameras.

I detest people leaning or piling bags etc on cars as I spend too much time and money fixing up their mess.

When I start trashing your property, you can trash mine!!

another thing thats annoying is studded belt or those small buttons or studs on jean pockets, etc. Ive got little squiggles all down the side of my car from people leaning with those things on.
Wouldnt be so tight about it if I had a light coloured car, but mines burgandy and shows up heaps :(
I dont think some people realise that some people LOVE there car more than anything else. To those people a car is just that, a car!

I know that they are only kids, but I got three little ones (2 4 & 6) and you dont take 'em if you cant control 'em.
They dont learn respect if it is not taught at a young age.

the most annoying thing for me after people leaning on my car, is the pulling the boot and pushing it closed with the spoiler...they're only made of fibreglass, they bend a little, but it'll probably break sooner rather than later if people keep using it like a handle...

Actually it's the rubber that keeps the water out. Thats why i always tell people to open the boot using the boot and not the spoiler.

I remember many years ago when I had a Sigma (first car as a teenager) and I was hanging out with my mates etc and this top looking chick who I was pretty keen on decided to sit on my car.

She hopped up on the drivers side front guard right up near the windscreen and was intending to hang her legs over the side.

She got the shock of her life when in a split second she was laying on the ground at the front of my car.

I kept my car extremely well polished and as soon as she hopped up, she slid sideways at great speed right down the bonnet/guard and landed in a heap in front of the car.

It gave us all a great laugh but she was not impressed.

I think the moral of that story really is "Chicks shouldn't brawl"

Or "You can't expect to enter a biff and not cop at least one hit"

The guy leaning on the corvette deserved a punch in the face for getting lippy when the owner of the car he was leaning on told him to get off, rather than apologising and walking away, or, heaven forbid, not leaning on the FKING car in the first place!
