Slick Holden says

Market vaule is $4900. Ask AMMI.

Theredbook.com.au says

Trade in price guide* $700 - $1,800
National average price - private sale* $1,600 - $3,500
Price when new (RRP) $24,924
all prices quoted are GST inclusive

Maybe the Quote from AAMI was done in 1997 !

AAMI will go broke if they pay people $4900 for a car that is worth between $700 and $3500...

ITs like saying that an EA is worth $4000....

$4000 maybe for a perfect top of the range...

But a VP.....

Hmmmmmmmm

i dont think many people use the deadlocks to be honest, some will use it all the time, i imagine others use it when they go out and park it somewhere strange/dark/seedy

the immobiliser, dead easy. if you have one fit another immobiliser that cuts starter and fuel. its honestly dead easy to get round them

the only thing u need to get into a vn-vp is a butterknife- yeh it will dent the drivers door and scratch paint off, but that just compliments the mishaps that it has already.

I can gaurantee you it takes very little time and a flat head screw driver to get into any E-series with no effort at all.
At least Holden added the deadlocks for those who choose to use them.

i have never sussed out the deadlocks on a vp- how do they work, and unlike the holdens the ea onwards door handles have got alot better security so they cannot be popped out.

I can tell you this, My car no rattles no coke cans, And if i only could get me car on here i would prove a thing or too about the sounds of a V6.
They have always done mid 15's there are plenty out there that still do and many that do low 15's even sub 15.

And your last comment was disgraceful, do you feel the need to put down to feel big? Back in the day the VP was tested with the EB and as close as they were they rated the VP ahead just. Not bad.
Hanging crap on a car wont make the other any better.

i wouldn't worry about it too much champ, as far as i'm concerned anyone who has owned a good VP will know that they are a good car.
There is good and bad in every manufacturer and driving "my mates mums wagon" or what ever doesn't constitute the right to have a serious opinion.
I have owned a VP and i will say next to my BA it is the best car i have ever owned.

Champ i love it... I know you have had a VP you have said that. I do not like the bagging and constant run down to make something worse then it is.
And when it comes to opinion's many have ignored many things in favour of hanging shet.
Everyone has got a opinion and everyone is welcome to as many as they like.
But what was going along as a pretty good conversation turned into a shet on contest. Lets see who can hang the best on it so it makes the other car look good.

A manual commonwhore you might be able to stir to a 15.5 quarter, but the auto forget it. 1st, 2nd, 3rd pull alright to 3000rpm, past this they die in the (or anything over 120kmh).

Get a supercharged VS CALAIS and I'll champion you till the cows come home. Suprised me with responsivness for an auto and is match (if not quicker) then most new auto V8's.

See this is what i mean by ignoring true facts, I'm not the one saying they do 15.5's in auto just to big note it. They were tested doing that and have ran them times by many still to this day at race tracks. They max out @ 3600 in torque and @ 4800 in KW.
Ive never had a problem with anything over your

watch out for this lion fellas it growls like the common stray and blasts down the quarter in a neck snapping 15.5 seconds. Next upgrade must be wheelie bars and 6 point roll cage. The all conquering buick V6 with its high performance pressed steel rockers, no lift camshaft, race spec piston/lifter rattle. :

Dude you crack me up. What in that is informative? Do some homework, your NL Fairlane weighs some 1680kg from the factory. Your signature states that you've got a "98 NL Fairlane Ghia I6:- billet cam, chiptorque chip, head port/polish, pacemaker extractors, full lukey system, 3.89LSD, shiftkitted auto fully rebuilt, 18' Advanti rims, Superlow springs... 147.5RWKW/197.8RWHP" and you compare it to a 15 yr old VP on the dark side of 300,000ks thats been neglected and unmodified. You dont need to be a rocket scientist to work out that you're gonna win that hey. What kind of comparison is that? Seriously?

DO the simple maths, your 147.5rwkw or say roughly 185kw at the fly wheel, which gives you a power to weight of about 109kw per tonne.

VP Commodore puts out 127kw and weighs just on 1300kgs. which is about 97kw per tonne. From the factory a stock VP sedan is good for an 8 sec 0-100 and a 15.5 sec quarter mile.

Now i dont know about you but if i was about to bet money based on numbers badges aside, i'd be putting my money on the extra 58kw!

Another was to look at it is that a BA Mk 2 XR6 turbo is only 55kw up on you, about the same age difference, and i'm tipping you would be crying unfair match up if you got beaten by one of those! What do you expect?

About 6 cars ago i had a mint condition VN manual sedan, that was lightly modified, to this day still has under 180,000ks which WAS good for a high 14 sec quarter and would still beat my BA XR off from the lights as well as murder it for fuel economy!
