I thought 7 year was good. 10 is excellent. The experience of ownership with my 2012 Cerato has been very positive. Only criticism is the Power Steer, doesnt feel like it has a good turning circle and the leather seats are quite firm. Only minor and not enough to make me look to another brand. Overall, I would buy another.

Go have a seat in a 2019/20 Cerato GT, have a look how much they've changed! Leather in Kia and Hyundai seems to be on the firmer side yes, but as a result it doesn't wear nearly as much as Ford leather (that I've owned), even after 130,000KM

My XR leather looked like brand new after 300000 Ks.

Dad's Audi much softer and looked very worn at 100000.

Not sure if it's quality or not but I'd pick the better wearing seat than the softest. (just on my experience)

I don't suggest my car is anything special compared to all the brilliant cars people own here but I will say the seats in it are absolutely brilliant.

Best I've ever sat in.

I'm surprised not in more cars actually.

Recaro and mix of alcantara and leather.

Did you have a B series? I noticed the leather in my FG was much softer when new than a BA/BF was, and while it was super-comfortable immediately, it has suffered over the years. Our Rio had around 130K on it and the seats were still great, but even with conditioning they did develop that annoying shine to them.

Yeah just the original BA mate.

Hard but comfy and tough as (my Greyhounds couldn't even mark it)....got very hot on a sunny day though. I've heard that on FG but i haven't experienced it as dont have one to compare.

The leather (unlike the car) aged extremely well.

Barely different to new yet the roof lining, engine, paint and so on was falling apart completely.....ha (i loved it though)

It's hard to believe KIA's are all we have in the garage now ?

Old faithful RIO has now surpassed 200000km's

Buying the 1.0L GT LINE RIO was a mistake unfortunately...

Getting a great buy back price and Replacing it with the Cerato GT almost makes me not require another brand, or larger size car... ever again !

If you don't mind me asking, what's wrong with the RIO GT Line?

No worries mate...

Apart from how slow it actually is, the amount of vibration through the engine and god almighty rattle on start up really gave me concerns.

Service manager Matthew gave it a clean bill of health and advised NOT to run it on 98 as it would lose power !!!

It's a 3cyl ...They all do that !

Where have we heard that before ?!

Side by side acceleration test my 2012 6spd RIO was 2 + lengths ahead from a dig against 2019 7spd RIO GT - Line

Switched drivers and the gap was worse lol, as i tried to stall it up.

The 7spd dsg gearbox is a shocker !

With major throttle lag no doubt from the small diaplacement engine BUT in the Ceraro it is a weapon especially with paddle shifters go figure :/

I wanted to like it, the interior is a world removed from my 8yr old model in improvements, but my old RIO just keeps on trucking and that's what i need on a weekly 1600km journey.

No leaks
No squeeks
No rattles

And Nothing i cannot fix myself...

Thanks to a workshop manual i bought on CD for $7 off ebay 3000+ pages in pdf style.

Some subtle changes between the years, i investigated the suspension it doesn't retro fit and the 2019 is both firmer and much better dampened as you would expect.

Road noise is all but completely eliminated as well, they really did their homework there.

Anything else i can help you with ?

They went completely backwards with the YB. The UB was ahead of its time, and still looks more modern than the current gen, and it's a 2011/12 design. They took the fun engine away, lots of the tech, manual option in the "Sport" version. Really weird move.

Still need a Stinger Wagon.

I have two big Greyhounds and a German Shepherd so your typical SUV useless and I like fast cars so huge people movers not interested.

Help me out Kia!!

Fair enough, I thought power may have been an issue, and im not surprised the DSG box is also on that list.

The DCT in our i30 is almost flawless, it's one of the best features. However it's linked to a decent engine.

Totally agree Chris, but if the Cerato engine was offered it really would be a GT !!!

I cannot get squat out of them, i drove a carbon stinger for half a day and oh boy sliding ya hands around a suede wheel brings back so many memories from the 80's !!

Kept a series 2 Stinger for a day but just couldn't agree to the novated lease details BUT with Michelins on it was chalk and cheese compared to the series 1 with Continentals i last turned to smoke.

I even swapped plates

A couple of pic's for your enjoyment if tapatalk plays nice ?

*edit* tapatalk has a mind of its own :/

Current ride - work car and wish list

Peace out

Nice collection, i'd have the Stinger in that RIO colour to hide those tail light extensions, not sure what they we're thinking with that.

They really are the perfect first car for someone...

No rust issues whatsoever, yes i had a faulty drivers side central locking mechanism $132

But thats it.

I tinted the windows last year only, the interior is still perfect EXCEPT for getting the steering wheel re-covered, because of the rings my wife wears.

I replaced the shocks at 93k the same time i swapped the Continentals for Michelins... but i didn't need to :/

If you can get one around the 100k km mark you should have no issues at all, but please dont wait for 15000km between oil changes !

And being GDI add injector cleaner every 10k km's for the valves sake

Nice work. The tuned XRT I had never struggled with as was loud etc, rear drive and knew to be careful.

Could feel in Taxi mode or performance very obviously.

These very modern cars especially 4wd are fast too and so quiet can easily be over limit and not know!! (not making excuses, my fault obviously)

I have owned multiple fords both new and used.
Im now on my 2nd cerato

no the cerato doesnt excite my heart like my barra did.
but they are comfortable, nice to drive great value, and that 7 yr w/tee lets me sleep night
And definitely cheaper to run and much more reliable than any ford i have had.
I had one issue with one of them where the radio sometimes wouldnt turn on.
no questions or quibbles. they replaced the whole icc with an upgraded one with android and apple play. Other than that no problems form either of them. All my fords had problems and i had to fight to get them fixed sometimes, including an auto tranny that failed one month after wa/tee expired. tough luck.

Its a damned good commuter car, but if i was wanting a "sunny sunday" car to go for fun drives in. no. A stinger would be

You could buy 2 x Cerato GT's for the price on road of 1 x Stinger GT

Or a rusted out 79 vb commodore with a 202 :/

Going by the latest classifieds !

US design regulations.
Alot of people in other markets have them painted to match the body colour
