For those in the know (boss xr8) would the dsc calibration from the rspec work with the 6, or would it need it's own calibration?
If it needs a new calibration it seems unlikely it would get the staggered rims.

I reckon a 6t swan song seems most likely, especially given ford have ruled out a 351 XR8.
Makes a lot of sense to do a limited run of f6 engined fgx.

Would it be possible to run the current turbo engine, up-spec to F6 injectors and intercooler, but add the cat (or similar) from the Miami and alter the tune. The less restrictive Miami cat coupled with the GT3576 (small turbo) could match the F6 easily for power but improve the response.

Maybe this "special" will be a handling pack, R spec suspension, brembos etc. Otherwise it will be competing with the XR8.

I don't think the 6T should be held back. If Ford can stick the 310 motor in the XR6T, they should do so.

I think marketing wise you need a clearly defined hero of the range. I say keep the new XR8 as king.
The turbo should be aimed and marketed against the lower priced SS.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised if that's just about the way it ends up except for the Miami Cat (I believe XR6 T and F6 have had the same Cat although I may be wrong). On the subject of the other mods you mentioned, it's generally believed that the basic Turbo's injectors are near their limit, so F6 injectors seem like a "no brainer" to me and the bigger intercooler would be a good idea too, but I can't see Ford wanting to spend too much and push the price too high, particularly if better tyres, RSpec suspension and better brakes are included. So I'm thinking perhaps no F6 Turbo. They could have a very fast car without it, and I don't think it's a good idea to have it it too close to an XR8 in performance. Judging by my own untuned XR6 T Auto's performance (12.509 sec 1/4 at WSID), it seems they are within around one and a half tenths (approx 7-8 metres) of the XR8 Auto over the Quarter, with the Miami getting the gain after 100 kmh. So will we see Ford saying that the limited edition XR6T has a minimum of something like 300 or 310 kW plus up to 10% or more from the overboost under the right conditions? At least if it get's better tyres we might see testers getting better times because as I mentioned in an earlier post, my car can pick up around 4 tenths or more from a high stall up when there is enough grip. It would be great to see the 310kW XR6T with 275 section rear tyres and launch control.

If this car ever comes to life (don't believe nothing until I see it) I have placed a deposit with my dealer depending on spec and price.
I do envisage a new XR8 spec car with a I6T motor with 300+ kW in it for the same price if not a little cheaper than the new XR8. As expected the dealer has no idea about it and has drawn up contract based on the XR6 Turbo. He did mention there is some Ford event around the second week of December where something officially may be mentioned there, but least see. George |

The DSC is car specific, so effectively it would be modified to correct the weight bias between the 6 and 8 and the change in available grip at each corner.

I read on here, that to recalibrate the dsc costs millions. If it needs to be re calibrated there is no business case for staggered rims on the 6 for a limited run.

I agree, they wouldn't have a business case to do this, and if they were thinking of it, it would have been done for the whole run of fgx, the brakes and wheels I can see happening, and upgraded cooler and injectors. But why 310, ford won't step on the f6's toes, they'd leave it as the top I6T they ever had, and the fgx xr le would slot in between the standard T and the f6.

Am I the only that noticed the original article saying the F6 was 315kw?
Seriously what Ford employee wouldn't know how many kw the F6 was?

Wow what a stupid response. What would you have them say it was then? The badge says 310kw, so naturally when they're speaking about that engine that's the number you'd expect quoted from a Ford employee?

It doesn't make sense to cannibalise XR8 with an F6 spec car with R-spec suspension. It does make sense to be able to price point base SS and kick its **** in the same way that XR8 kicked the SSV Redline in the Top Gear Mag comparison.

I am 90% confident a special limited edition XR6T sendoff package will go ahead
This is based on several chats I have had with people in Ford who would know Of course, like anything, a program can get canned at the last minute |

Never underestimate how little some ford employees know. I remember driving into a ford dealer with my au xr8 and the bloke there asked what the little badge with wings was

I know what you are saying, but there is a difference between a Ford Employee and a Ford dealership employee.
