Webber has noticed it as a fairly stark change since he lives overseas in an existance we can only dream about. For us in our daily lives it has been such a gradual process it's by and large gone through to the keeper.

Take away peoples freedoms slowly, one by one and no one will notice it, until they have none left.

Now, young lady. You can thank me because without these laws, you could turn into a problem gambler. And who’s fault would that be? Hey Hey It’s Saturday, of course.

I agree with Mark 100%, and not just about road laws. This country is heading to hell in a handbasket with all th BS laws we are getting. Anyone who cannot see this is a fool. I am almost 35 and the freedoms that have been taken from us since I turned 18 are unbelievable.. As someone earlier rightly said, NO QUALIFICATIONS required to be in politics, You don't even have to prove that you can run your own succesfull private buisness and/or even have a drivers license to be a transport minister to make road laws! It's would be hysterically funny if it wasn't so serious but it is. What annoys me the most is the simplistic approach taken by the media and Government to the road laws- Don't Speed! Drive with your head firmly wedged up your bottom, it won't matter just don't speed. Don't take responsibility for yourselves or teach your kids to look before crossing the road, just let the Government handle it. I have been a volunteer Fireman for 10 years and am the father of two kids so I am not pushing some 'Agenda' but I am very unhappy in the direction this Country is heading..

I dont know if it has already been said but Victoria has nothing on W.A. when it comes to the over governing and regulating. I love Perth but the government here is so backward its ridiculous. I know that local car clubs/groups have been lobbying for changes in modification rules so it brings it inline with the rest of Australia but certain state government members (transport minister) are blocking any chance of this happening anytime soon for some vote getting agenda I dont understand. The whole speeding, double demerits and heftier fines is a joke, speed cameras are hardly ever placed in areas where accidents occur to deter and decrease the road death toll but in places where it would almost be impossible for an accident to occur, where they know people wont see them and have a greater chance in generating more fines and $$.
I understand that people die and that things should be done to curb and decrease the road death toll, but if speeding was the cause why is it that in certain European countries where there are no restriction on speed they have less deaths on the roads than we do and thats not even factoring in the larger population. Its lack of driving skill, ability and poor quality roads that cause accidents not speeding or modified vehicles. Anyway thats my rant

It should be possible to sell, as a responsible proposal, a plan to abandon the taxcams/nannycams as the revenue scam they are, and introduce something based on the German model. At the same time, it would be necessary to be upfront about how the revenue would be replaced - higher rego is obviously the honest way.
It will take a gutsy politician to take a stand on this. But it has been done. My father tells me that when Neville Wran was criticised for introducing pokies into pubs, he simply stated that NSW needed the money, and apparently he was respected for saying so. |

A little movie quote that can certainly be applied here:

The more we let the state and federal govermnent control our lives, the less liberty and freedom we will have. progress will be lost the country I knew when I grew up in the 70's and 80's was a totally different place. not many people have any respect for others and will not take responsibility for their own actions. so sad and frustrating it is to see more young people dying on our roads. they seem to be living without any hope or purpose and that life is pointless we will continue to see droves of young adults following in shane's footsteps because they most likely live in a non christian household and possibly with broken families, bad parents and who knows what. the world is saturating their minds with bad influences in radio, TV and seeing motorsport on TV and car events but not having a place besides circuit racing to do it at so the streets become their race tracks. the way society has changed is proof that more and more people have and are turning away from god and living wrongly, not thinking about the consequences of their actions. we have our own free will to choose and in droves, aussies and americans especially are going after their own will and doing whatever they feel like. no morals, extending boundaries. I can see that in coming years, we shall see the end of days. within 5 to 10 years, we shall see the most loss of life in human history worldwide and deaths on our roads will increase massively. I thank almighty god that I was born in 1973 and got to live in a very different world and can see the stark contrast between then and today. sure it was still evil back then but nowhere near as much. the aussie people overall were much more christian like and had respect and compassion and kids did all their crazy driving on a farm where they pretty much couldnt hurt themselves The kids of today and the people of my generation need a place in each state to get our kicks. We need Motorsport complex's. SA should get one soon with Tailem Bend but despite our technology today, I reckon that life was better in the 80's than it is now. Most Victorian people I've met through speedway and many other interests are fantastic people but Melbourne is a shithole and always will be.

When it comes to tv shows being in the news like this, I also see this story as a ploy for ratings. Quote:
