i did it to save the 18'' tyres a bit. also because i often leave the car in un-secure places (train station/ tafe) i dont want to attract any unwanted attention. The car will stay with those wheels until wagga.

couple of new updates:

DEV2 is getting installed on may 26th
-extractors.
-hi-flow cat.
-2.5'' exhaust.
-intake.
-'special' plugs and leads.

so that should make a bit of difference to the performance side of things.

secondly i had a bit of an accident with my car just over a week ago. i discovered that my car has a massive problem with understear... and i found out the hardway.

the front of the car started to slip out as i tried to avoid a gutter directly infront of me. i relised i was running out of road, so ive put on the breaks which has continued the understear and i have gone straight into the gutter taking a piece out of my 15'' rim and just missing a tree and putting my wheel alignment WAY out. but i drove it home and it was all good. all of this happened in a second but you will see the result of 65-70km/h + gutter.

i am definatly changing my driving style after this occurance.
matt

NOTE: they are brand new 15'' tyres so that wasnt the understear problem. and the car is properly lowered (not cut springs). and the tyre has no damage on it at all, which is also very puzzling.

bugger about the accident, must have been a good bead on the tyre for it to stay up

hmmm nice whats that setting you back.

i might sugest you opt not to get the "special plugs and leads" and also the Intake from JMM you will get better gain's doing it yourself and will save a lot of money. Thats what i found dealing with them. im happy to help out if you want and info regarding doing it yourself.

well dropped the car off at bob jane for them to put my new 15'' rim on and to get it wheel aligned. omg the wheel alignment was out *** heaps. about 2 degrees on both left and right front wheels. so they are keeping the car over night and looking at it in depth tomorrow. pain in the ***.

with the jmm kit, im just gonna bite the bullet and get it all done there. i know its expensive but i just cbf after work and i go out heaps on the weekends. once i get everything sorted out with work and get the bank up a bit then i will get back into the car. atm work has taken over everything and i didnt realise how much free time i had when i was at school.

well new update. (already). as you all know i have a bit of a boot setup going on in the back there. well i have decided- for visual appeal i am going to throw another sub in there. i have to amp compacity to do it so all i need is some mdf, some carpet, some power tools, and some time and you will all be seeing a new boot setup complete with:

duel subs, duel amps, storage compartment, gas tank access, spare tyre access and space to put every day stuff- oh and i cant forget- a couple of neons lol

Dual is spelt with an 'a'.

Don't put the neons in.

Should sound nuts!

hey bud.
ive seen that install and mine is going to be similar but not the same. i dont really like how the subs are firing into eachother so mine are going to be- basket in the box and angled outwards and each amp will be on the back wall. hopefully all the measurements add up and i can arange everything how i want. otherwise other options will have to be looked at.

p.s. thanks steve for the correction. i could have sworn it was spelt with an 'e'.

matt.

p.p.s. i have moved my dev2 kit to be installed this coming monday so if everything works out good i should be able to show it off at the meeting next week

FINALLY i have a good update lol.

DEV 2 is installed in the eb.

Results:
Well im really surpried how much of a difference dev2 didnt make on the car. its pritty much the same i believe. there is a bit more pick up but not 2grands worth. the car is extreamly quiet for a 2.5'' exhaust with extractors. you cant even tell its got one.

Note:
now in saying that the car has not been tuned yeat. brenden mock believes the head gasket is just about to let go, so he didnt even risk putting it on the dyno. he based the head gasket theroy on 2 things. 1. Im losing water 2. There is a crapload of oil everywhere. Also when he changed my plugs one of them was rusting up which showed there was water in the bore (or something like that). so even if he is talking crap the head gasket is going to go someday so i might aswell get it changed now.

so now i have to consider if i should go through the mucking around of getting an au engine, or just getting my head reco'ed and it will all be over in a few days.

so pending the result of that the car will be tuned and should have a bit more kick than it does now.

matt

Matt, sorry to hear bad news about the engine. I hope it works out for you.

As far as exhaust, try replacing one of the mufflers with a hotdog. A few years back I had a ED XR6 with extractors, center muffler and a hotdog at the back, sounded very nice and pretty loud too.

Or you can always remove the rear muffler and run just a pipe over the diff. Than it would be LOUD(trust me , I'm talking from experience! :thebirds: )

well it is official, my car is really ****ing me off. first it was the head gasket that needs replacing now i have found water in my passenger footwell, which is NOT coming from the heater core and yesterday i mis-judged my garage and have put a nice scratch and dint in my rear quater.

im just getting frustrated how much i have spent on the car and now there is so much more expence to fix it. this issue is- where do i cut my losses? i am still intending to keep the car, but i use the car daily and i am doing about 100k's a day in it and i cant keep it in show condition whilst doing that many k's.

i havnt got enough money to buy a good ute (for work) and i dont really want to buy another cheap car because thats just going to be another problem.

everything is just a pain at the moment. especially doing nite shift i work at nite and sleep during the day. i have no time to do anything.

just wanted to get that all out.
matt

Thats not good news, don't worry, we've all been through these stages. Man if I had a dollar for everytime my car ****ed me off and how many times I've thought of getting rid of it I'd be one rich mother....!!
But on the other hand if I had 50 cents for each time I look at the car, praise the car, love the car etc I'd be even richer!!

Hang in there mate, you'll get it all sorted in the end!

I drive my car to work and back everyday and normally do 300 k's a week, it also cops drags at HPR every now and then, shows, meets, cruises and of course the daily grind. I just try to be careful not to hit anything! LOL!
