Those Courier ads are great. I remember some insurance company (might have been GIO) always used to have bizarre and hilarious road accidents on their ads. Gee I miss those ads.

That creepy bloke off the National Tiles ads really annoys me. I certainly wouldn't buy tiles off him. Also those ringtone ads. How many of those ads are there?

That's the one. Hopefully nobody on the forums know him.

The best add of all time is not listed here.

Sam Kekovich - Australian Lamb Board

http://www.themainmeal.com.au/images...2090%20sec.wmv

Nothing has come within a country mile of this add. The new "really big add" gets close, but sorry no cigar.

Anyone who thinks otherwise, is wrong, or just plain dumb.

LOL. If he had come back, you could have said "Hello" in that ultra freaky way that he does at the start of some of the ads.

Dont know if its been mentioned but there is an ad on the Radio that goes something like this:

"Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
The blind factor-eee
the blind factor-eee
The blind, the blind th blind th blind the blind the blind the blind Factor-eeee"

Its done in this ridiculous stupid high pitched tone to the tune of some baby nursery rhyme. Usually on 3AW Melbourne, accompanied by the Waffling on of Ernie Sigley.

I HATE IT! Anyone heard it??

Ah what about the dishwasher tablet ad. The one where he puts the spanner and the rocker cover in the dishwasher and his wifes smacks him in the head with the spanner. Thats brilliant i think. Very creative.

One of my favourites that ad, because I can see it happening. The other would have to be the Carlton Draught 'Really Big' ad.

*LuvinmyEB smacks The Maddestman on the forehead with an open ended spanner.

The repetitious JJ's snacks (Nice and crispy snacks) ads are bad, but always get a giggle out of me cos I parody it all the time.

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned a particular advertisment for Just Car insurance (The one that starts off with "Just juice"...) that features a particular blue AU as an example of a good ad

Regarding the volume being louder during the advertisments, the don't actually, that would be impossible. What they do is a process called "normalisation" - which you can experiment with yourself, if you've got a microphone plugged into your computer and are using Micro$oft Windows. Start up Sound Recorder (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Sound Recorder) and record yourself talking into the microphone normally. Then select Increase volume (25%) from the effects menu, and play it again. You'll notice it sounds louder, but you didn't touch the volume controls on your PC, all you did was edit the sound you just recorded.

Maybe some pictures will explain how this works a bit better...

Shows a waveform like one you would record. The line that goes up and down is the actual sound represented in a visual manner. Notice that there is space between the line and the top and bottom of the box it is in. The box it is in represents the highest and lowest the sound can be AT ANY PARTICULAR VOLUME.

Now, by "normalising" the sound, what you do is increase the rises and falls of the sound WITHIN THE AVAILABLE VOLUME. So if it was done to the same picture above, you'd end up looking at this:

Which would in fact SOUND louder, but is just making more efficient use of the available volume it's played back at.

I hope I've made sense, perhaps someone else who understands it can explain it better then I can.
