I'm also quite partial to JZX110 Toyota Mark II Fortuna Its basically a Camry with an aero kit except rear wheel drive and 1JZGTE engine, very understated, simple clean design, looks great in white and no one would look twice at it. I seem to have a fetish for plain cars that look like they were using a pizza box as inspiration with their design tools being a 15cm ruler, a crayon and made out of plastic Its 130mm shorter than a VS Commodore to put that into perspective on size, its a midsize sedan. I'm down with the bmws, but I'm liking the older cars mentioned here. I'm always thinking of cars I'd like to get and it often is ZC fairlane, mustang, Dodge Phoenix, barra swapped jag xj6.
For some reason right now I just want a 1953 Hudson Hornet. I have no idea why, it just came to me yesterday that it would be a good car to have. NFI why I decided 1953 was the best year. E: Oh and a few days ago I thought it would be cool to have a 98 mb sl600. I've never wanted a convertible or a v12 before, but there you go. I just think about cars, booze and music all day. I'm not sane but such thoughts keep me from being totally insane. Last edited by oldel; 10-05-2020 at 07:06 PM. |

Providing they have current “Machamo” (registration) and a valid “Riteve” sticker (roadworthy) Annual Riteve is probably more “sophisticated” than anything I’ve seen elsewhere too! As well as usual visuals (tyre condition, lights, wipers, washers etc).. The vehicle is driven on a “Kinematics Compliance Test Machine”, which is an active chassis and suspension rig. This tests all suspension wear, real time brake performance and also performs an emissions test during the driving simulation. The make and model of the vehicle is entered into the test rig, and it must meet that vehicles parameters for emissions and noise. I actually witnessed this rig pick up a minor rear wheel brake cylinder leak on mate’s 1994 Jeep, through it’s real-time active brake test! Interestingly, next door to the Riteve test station, there is a Tico mechanicS garage that “hires out” wheels (with roadworthy tyres), exhaust systems and even shockers and brake rotors, that the locals use to pass Riteve. All their original stuff is put back on after successfully passing test. Riteve cost is around US$28.00, and the “hire and fitment” of passable components another $20 odd! This all goes on in full view and knowledge of the Gov Riteve inspectors too! (Providing vehicle passes, they couldn’t care less if said vehicle is back to it’s dilapidated state 10 minutes later!) Machamo fee (registration) is also interesting! Annual fee is directly proportional to the vehicle’s value. (They have a huge data base of THEIR determined value of make/model, year etc) For example, a Tico’s 10 yr old Hyundai Excel might attract an annual Machamo fee of 30-40 bucks. Or a “rich gringos” Hummer or 4x4 F250 Raptor fee could be 3500- 4000 bucks a year! In our case, our 2015 RAV4 is around $600, our 2001 Jeep Wrangler is $200, and my Rhino buggy is only $90 odd! Motorcycles are on a higher fee scale, due to high accident rates. (Hospital and medical costs are included in your Machamo) Vehicle Insurance isn’t compulsory, however worthwhile if you have a reasonably late model vehicle. With insurance, you can pay an extra $26.00 “DRUNK Indemnity” This Drunk cover ensures your insurance is still valid if you’re proven to be over the limit after an accident! (Usually only blood tested if a fatality has occurred though) Random drunk tests are unheard of down here! (Sorry if prattled on too much!)

Well Franco seems we have similar tastes in cars but I would struggle to pick just one.
FG F6 E39 M5 (probably my favorite sedan of all time) Alfa 156 GTA ($15k gets a good one...yeah yeah FWD but that engine and style is ace) VT2-VE HSV Clubsport (yeap one day I actually want one in the garage) Toyota Chaser V (but the F6 would be better) I could go on forever, but if it was for a daily and maintenance wasnt an issue the M5 wins. Fast, practical, timeless design. If I could get away with a coupe then the E46 M3 (manual) is next. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...-6535763/?Cr=0 That one has come down $5k in the last 2 weeks.

It's a V8 with sports auto and by the looks, pretty much unmolested.
Since the price is negotiable, that would leave me almost $39K for mods. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...SE-AD-6608354/

How does none of the above sound. Japanese spew spew.
For 40 kay you have alot of options but for me I would be looking at anything Aussie made and v8 (resale and future collectability). Any of this euro trash just spells trouble... Any decent used euro for around the 40k mark will be worth 10k in a few years time. Im going to go FPV GT 5.0. Can get good private ones in the 30's and they are just about tanked in my opinion. Then go spend 5k on spare parts for it (as **** is getting harder by the day to obtain).

When I was younger I remember a neighbour who had a 928 GTS. This car would have to be on my wish list if I had $40k spare and could find one in decent condition.
