I had an 8 track - the 1973 mazda rx4 I bought in 1994 had an 8 track player in it. I think I only had 1-2 tapes, probably david bowie.
The cassettes are from when I started buy music in about 1988 to about 1994 because then I bought a CD stacker for the car and started buying cds. Inever got rid of the cassettes because sometimes I buy some old clunker with only a tape player. |

Furphy's are still steaming along, still with a Furphy in charge, still Aussie owned, but they have a reputation around town for using a LOT of 547 Visa people instead of employing locals Many people don't actually know that Furphy is a family and a business, they just think it is a tall story. I have met people who were astonished that there were a family of Furphy's As for the beer - YUK!!!!, but the manufacturers pay a royalty to the Furphy family for the use of the name or they have some agreement in place - The Furphy family don't own the brewery

Another project started and then stop when you have achieved a sufficient level of mess to have a break for a cuppa and then leave it until tomorra
But a cleanup can unearth rare stuff indeed |

I would be locking it in place old mate, it might go walking, quite a few have
A mate of mine bought an old one off an old farmer on ebay for about $1200, he drives 3 hours to pick it up, old mate farmer wants to up the price coz he Googled them, my mate says, 'a deal is a deal', the farmer sold it to him, my mate was rubbing his hands together - that was for JUST the end, not the whole cart Even the Furphy camp ovens are starting to bring big money coz they have stopped making them, and that was only recently

This is the battery The battery is quite good. There is a story here. I originally had a smaller Ryobi mower. In effect the cut was too narrow and the battery on that mower was the same as my other Ryobi stuff. After about 12 months the battery wouldn't recharge. I took it back to Bunnings and they said they will replace the mower and battery, so I took it all back and I actually got the larger mower which was $100 dearer than the one I had, and they dropped the change over to $50. A win there. The booklet says the battery will last up to 40 minutes. What I have found though that if the grass is high and I put the mower on low, after 10 minutes there is a definite drop off because of high load on the battery; and it will have trouble cutting tall stuff after 20 minutes I only have a small front yard to mow, plus the footpath, and I can do both all in one hit because I mow the grass on a mid setting, ie not too low. The mower has a 6 year warranty, but only 3 years on the battery. |

Lithium ion batteries blow goats, electric cars do the same thing if you keep punishing them on a track or under repeatedly high load scenarios. When the battery revolution happens we will all have electric lawn mowers |

The thread is taking over my life.
Youse wanna know how I came to be in possession of a Furphy wagon end? I was living in a quiet NSW country town. The bloke next door had a reputation for being light-fingered, so we were careful about what we left lying about in the yard, especially when we were away. Well our water bill was always a little high. We had a few problems with leaking water pipes that were repaired a few times and then we had to replace the water pipe completely. It seems that while we were away the bloke next door would use our water to water his garden in the middle of the night. The bloke on the other side of him worked for the council, and his brother was a local copper. One day when we came home from a trip the bloke from two doors down came to see me and mentioned that they challenged the bloke next door about pinching our water - he had the sprinkler going in the middle of the night and they heard it from their place. He had the council put a new tap on my meter so that I could apply a lock to it while I was away. Little did he know that the bloke next door came to see me as soon as we came home and he mentioned that he had been using our water because he had a leak in his system and had turned his water off. Some time before this, I noted that the bloke next door had three of these Furphy water tank ends I did ask him one day if he wanted to sell me one. What he did was to move one into our front step and he said I could have it as compensation for his using our water. Two days later the cops turned up and asked me about the bloke next door pinching stuff. Well as I said to them I have to live with this bloke as a neighbour and besides he has given me something as recompense so I told them I didn't want the matter to go any further. Some of the stuff that went missing over the few years was a wheel barrow, an antique tap on our outside water tank that was being used as a garden ornament and often plants, such as orchids that grew wild in our place would be dug up. There may have been lotsa tools and stuff because I never knew where anything was or what I had. What I have learnt since is to leave something out that someone would like to pinch and if doesn't go missing them things must be OK. I have no problems here in Yap-Hoon because Miss Penny is on patrol. |
