Mental health is a big social issue issue , but the bigger issue here for me is why the powers that be wont let police take care of dudes like this before it got this stage , and i understand sometimes when police take action there may be more hurt than that caused by the offender , and that is unfortunate ,
but coppers should not be afraid persecution when they have to pull guns out to deal with scum bags .

Add to this ......... about half an hour ago i read this bloke has been granted bail ........ i just have no words .

The real problem now days is that lawyers know of the mental health loop hole.
So "mental health" always gets thrown out there to try to get lighter sentances then 6-12months later they're back on the streets doing the same ****.

Fcck that.
Its these same fcck heads that fill our emergency rooms when we have to sit and wait 3 hrs with a broken arm because 4 dcckheads have decided to try some new drug and flipped out.
Make a big room and just dump them in there and if they make it they make it. They have a choice to use crap or not. Most people dont choose to break an arm or leg etc or get sick.

Better yet just start mulching these scum of society. Im sure once they see what happens to people like them crime rates and drug usage will severly lessen.
They know they're going to get special treatment so they keep doing it.

Being granted bail is the problem. The guy has a history but still was able to be let out.

The situation the police were in would be lots going on and having to make the correct decision at the time. There isnt a point in having a go at the police (not saying you are) when its a situation that could have been avoided.

Indeed , i have nothing but respect for the police that have a difficult job to do , I just question the " let them go we will get them later when its safer " policy .

Just another criminal scumbag like thousands of others that have in the past or will in the future use mental illness to escape proper justice and no doubt he will thanks to our gutless do gooder governments that make the soft c*ck, feel good laws to appease the minority.

I think the thing was the police weren't trying to escalate the situation... then the maniac escalated it on his own accord. It's always easy to think of the ideal response in retrospect but I don't blame the police one little bit for this one.

yup you are correct, a mis read on my part he was " already " out on bail for other offences.

"The 26-year-old man allegedly responsible for the rampage that killed four people, including a young child, in Melbourne was ‘out on bail’, local reports claimed ".

I work in East Melbourne, 15 min walk from where this occurred. We received notification that something had happened and was advised to avoid the CBD.

Watching it unfold on TV/internet made is an alternate reality. Hard to think that we were 15 mins from it. Most of us go shopping during our lunch.

Personally I don't think the driver will get what he deserves. The way the justice systems works, he will practically get away with it by way of a drug rehabilitation.

I don't think he will get off lightly. Even if it's a case of drugged up, mental illness, fit of rage or whatever. Being on bail makes anything many times worse. Even if he got stopped after just doing the burnouts, there is a high chance that would cancel the terms of his bail. Killing multiple people with evidence of intent will probably be classed as murder rather then manslaughter. Injuring others won't help his cause. He will rot. (How come the term manslaughter sounds so much worse then the term murder, yet manslaughter is unintentional and murder intentional? )

A car can still drive after a tyre or two is flat.
The cooling system can take minutes to drain from something the size of a bullet, and once drained the car could still be driven for minutes before coming to a stop.

Same with the Lindt siege, all the no all experts come out of the woodwork and enlighten us on what the authorities should have done.
Yes, but after all that and what did, didn't happen or could have happened, the man was known to police and the chase began a substantial distance away from the CBD. The fact remains that a whole fleet of Victoria police and the air wing couldn't stop a gutless 20+ year old worn out V6 Holedent Commondoor and several unfortunate souls perished as a result. If that isn't incompetence, I don't know what incompetence is.

Can't believe the racially slanted comments. Listen up people. The world is mostly full of good people who do the right thing. For a myriad of reasons, people do disgraceful things to each other in EVERY CORNER OF THE WORLD. Every time a person posts a racial comment, they are spreading hatred and showing their illness, just like the person they are complaining about.

That's true. Need more cop cars with big bullbars and more cops that are not afraid of being prosecuted for injuring criminals.

This idiot was on bail, stabbed someone in the face, previously had a hostage in a car he stole after bashing the elderly owner, then he was doing circle work in Australias second busiest CBD while screaming nonsense from the window while the cops are just watching from a distance.
What an absolute joke.

It's not the police's fault. They are to worried that they will be held accountable for police brutality if they try anything too much. Especially with that many people watching.
But if you do anything that reckless in a highly populated area you deserve whatever happens to you. Even if you don't you have a history or were not actually trying to hurt anyone.

I really don't understand where the racist rhetoric has come from on this occasion.

I'm not the SJW type at all but honestly... the ethnicity of the perpetrator was the last thing that came to my mind.
