It may work well for a period of time though.
Even though Castrol recommend it ?
I've always used it and done over 100,000 k's.
Motor doesn't blow smoke or use a drop of oil

0W-40 Castrol in my FG, 200 000 km and no worries - regular 15000km changes

Yawn. For most things we get our hands on, an oil is a bloody oil. Go and ask taxi operators with over 600k on their sohc or barra falcon. They will give you over a dozen of brands and thicknesses with no ill effect. I guess you believe you pick up 20kw after oil & filter change?
As a diesel mechanic I've worked at two places that used Castrol dexron 15w-40. New Zealand Kenworth dealership with winter temps 0-10 degrees all day. And Nor West WA transport co 40-50 degrees in summer, on anything from a 3.0 Hilux to a 19 litre Cummins. No dramas (but must be doing it wrong after reading internet experts).

Castrol always seems to get very mixed opinions. I'll stick with Penrite HPR5.

Ford recommend 5W30 for the BF so I'm not sure what you're on about?

Exactly right. There's bugger all money in oil and Castrol are one of the worst to deal with.

Found this strange. I'm sticking to the 10w-40. Running LPG the 5w-30 would especially not be recommended.

When the Shell 10w-40 goes on sale everyone grabs them all before I have time to get in and grab some!
He is correct. Remembering of course M1 5W30 is a pretty thin 30W formulated more to the 20W end of the viscosity range for a 30W

Pretty sure club members have access to this deal on Tuesday 29th from 3pm until 7.30pm. Not 100% sure as I didn't have time to read the flyer in its entirety.

I buy Mobil 1 from the distributor in 5L jugs for $70. Worth looking into if you have a Mobil or Castrol distributor near by.

Well, I'm a Supercheap club member, so I walked into a Supercheap store today after 3.00 pm, and they would not sell the advertised 5litre 5w - 40 to me at the half price. They said it is only available on the Saturday as advertised to everyone. They advised to order it online at a stroke past midnight on Saturday, as if you leave it till early Saturday morning when they open the stores, the oil sells like hotcakes, and sells out fast.

Other items, in the Bathurst sale catalogue where available to club members today, but not the half price Castrol Edge.
The store was in Thomastown, Vic.

For the young.
Endorsed by an Australian musician, Angry Anderson.
For marketing a lubricant, a person with a higher profile in the car industry would carry a lot more suitability.

I ordered two 5w30 bottles and a 25w50 and paid with paypal online. (Club member)

it says order will be processed/picked within 4 business hours, so there is a risk of it selling out in store due to in store purchases before i get to pick it up.

Cant get there till 10am.

Yes. First world problems
