Am hoping the next Falcon takes on the new Mondeo fron end.
Adds that Aston Martin sophistication.

Holding pattern til the US 2013 Ford Fusion in 2016 is my guess.
Even BMW have started down the FWD road in spite of having said 'over their dead body......'

Or it could be that the cost of evolving Falcon and Territory for such a small market is relatively cheap compared to
the alternative costs of closing down production and spending cash developing low run unique versions of existing
US vehicles further complicating their production lines..remember we're talking about two vehicles here, not one.

Orion mules started turning up on public roads about 12 months out from launch, so if you polish the crystal ball and assume that the FH or FU Falcon as we like to call it will be slated for an early 2014 release, mules in full camo should start turning up soon. It may be even less now with the full virtual design and build capability Broady now has.

There are systems and drivetrain mules out and about now I would say, but they are hiding in plain sight because they would be using FG or FGII cars for this purpose.

The Falcon is not being considered as part of CD4.3 program development. That's next gen Toreass and Lincoln MKS (D568) in case you were wondering.

I disagree.

The future in automotive is and should be heading to all-wheel-drive applications as opposed to front wheel drive. I believe there is still a strong passion for all things rear wheel drive as well.

There would be mules getting around already. You just can't tell because they would be using the existing exterior.

Maybe a little later in the year spy photos will start appearing on sites like caradvice.com.au of mules with the new front end with car bras over them.

Won't it just be a minor styling update?

In that case, we might not see all that much. Even the VF Commodore doesn't have any decent spy / mule pics and the release is only a few months away!

To be realistic, expect an update of the existing, probably no longer paralleling Holden's strategy of large RWD cos Ford don't have an export strategy for it, another example of Ford Detroit's lack of genuine commitment to Oz continuing its unique vehicle, not sad, BLOODY TRAGIC

I'm hoping it doesnt. I'd rather it looks more like the current Focus at the front than the next Mondeo. I hate the Aston Martin grille with the badge on the bonnet. It's fine for a low riding sports car like the Aston Martin, but it's out of place on a Falcon (or a Mondeo, or a Focus ST, or the Fiesta for that matter). If they're going to have that big mouth grille, at least make that the lower grille like the current FG2 arrangement.

But I guess it's just me ...

Hopefully some further economy improvements to the I6. Not sure how far they've progressed with zero-throttle fuel cut-off (cyl cut or something like that?), but in the SY Territory I currently drive there's definitely room for improvement here.

Any economy improvement is good, as long as it doesn't become horrible to drive as a result.

Engine responds very well to mods, but auto gearbox can become unsettled trying to cope with the extra torque. Good fuel economy overall: 9-12L/100km city, 8L/100 country.

FG has zero throttle fuel cut off. Also cruising at 100 on a slight decline the instant econ drops to some amazing figure like 3.8L/100km which no falcon model prior ever did.

It needs to be up specced so G6E is kitted like the Focus Titanium or Mondeo Titanium..
current spec levels are below luxury car expectations. That also applies to Dunnydores...
or will Ford sell the next generation Mondeo as the Falcon ?????

I read that the VF commodore will be shedding some weight via aluminium panels. Do we know if the Falcon will get any similar treatment??

Will it be so radical?

Given the complete change from AU to BA (sans door skins) then BF to FG, it would make sense for Ford to get a bit of mileage from their investment, without excessive need to ttol up - think revamped interior, grill, possibly front panels, but the RWD/chassis/body may well be FG........

Engines - well that's another story.
Interesting to see what's on offer, or not!

Not much else, maybe a few more gadgets to bring it up to date with Fords in the rest of the world. Hopefully a digital radio, blind spot detector, etc.

I WANT THAT.

What a fantastic rendition, and if it looks like that it should be popular.
I'll take a G6E-T in that with cashmere leather.

Not only that, but the styling of variants needs to be differentiated.
If ive bought a G6E i want it to look different from the XT.
Think EA GL and NA fairlane, EF GLi and NF Failane, AU forte and AU Fairlane. BF3 XT and Fairmont Ghia. FG XT and G6E.

I think the FG2 XT and G6E look too similar

I don't know about you, but I thought the EF GLi and NF Fairlane looked more similar than the FG2 XT and G6E.

What they really need to do is calm down on the chrome and reduce the size of the gaping grille. Introduce LED lighting inside and out and most importantly have better quality plastics in the car. The AU was the last model that had a better quality plastic in the trim, compared to BA/BF/FG.

other brands dont do anywhere near what Ford does in that respect. Look at the Commo variants, you can barely tell the difference, so I dont know that it actually helps in the sales dept to have every model looking different. They should really trim down the range and add features across the board. Sports model, luxury model and performance model all with the option of the different engine variations.
I think the days of the povo pack model are numbered, hoping they discontinue the XT and just tart up the XR variants as the base model as "percieved" value ....all the useless stuff people seem to want.
