So real question. Is it about to become SVT?

Then you best be looking for a new job.
We all know that the Falcon will cease to exist passed 2016, but that is still a little while off yet. Your answer that FPR are exiting V8supercars seems a little far left field considering they have committed four cars to racing next year. I think your facts aren't entirely 100%, so maybe just deliver what you do know for all our benefit.

If what you're say is true, this is what will be at the heart of the matter. if the go the Taurus route thats just another Madza6/ Camry/ Accord clone.

There is no demand for an FPV taurus.

I think Mustang will have a boarder appeal than to just enthusiasts, but this will depend on marketing and pricing. Non the less an exciting possibility!

So im guessing if Mustang was to come to Aus it would be Miami powered instead of the US Coyote ?

Anyone know what the life span of the 5.8 is ?

Just wondering if the Miami will become Fords global supercharged 8, seems a bit odd given the road Fords heading down to drop $40 mill on an engine for just the Aus market.

Oh what a prudent observation, why didn't I think of that?

clearly in your eyes the 380 is (or was) as desirable as the GT 335 yeah? Hmmmm what could it be.... the grandma-ish looks, the put-you-to-sleep interiors or the 16 sec quarter mile....

Just because something isnt made any more, doesnt mean it will automatically go up in value.
By your theory, 5.4ltr GT's should be going up in value - since they dont make them anymore.
If whatever replaces the 335 is better, it wont hold its value any differently than any other Ford based product.

given the 380 sold some 30000 units do you really think the gt/gs is going to sell that many?

desirable? clearly if the 335 was desirable to people other than ford/car enthusiasts we wouldnt be having this thread now would we.

given that fpv sold less than 2000 cars last year it could well be that by the time the plug is finally pulled history may show the 5.0 fpv's to well have been less 'desirable' than a grandma'ish 380... ironic really.

theres a few similarities between the two, ie both are decent cars that deserve to sell better than what they are/did, but due to stigma/media bashing people are/were avoiding.
both really are make or break models for the respective companies.
obviously fpv dont expect to sell 30000 units, nor would they need to, but im sure 2000 units a year is a long way short of where they would like to be.

Will be interesting to see how this turns out. New mustangs look tough but may appeal to a smaller demographic than the 4 door falc body.

I wonder what mustang Motorsport in ferntreegully make of all this ?

The issue here in AU is that we are over saturated. The 335 is easily the most desirable FPV vehicle made to date. The issue is that the niche market for these vehicles isnt expanding. The take up of new models is reliant on a lot of repeat business.......this basically slashes your sales figures.

The problem as I see it is that the Miami engine should have been available in FG from the get go. If you look at the number of the old 5.4 L. 315 and 302 FG's that were sold ....you get the picture

The release of the GS Miami was FPV's initial cry out for help ......by this time - we had all become cynical and were whingeing about its sparse interior and crappy brakes. In hindsight it may have been a better option to release a stripped out GT. an up spec GTP and a limited run GT-H with a slightly up spec motor output.

FG2 should have been more about intercooled performance and suspension tweaks.....

I wonder how HSV are feeling about this....the irony must be killing them. FPV have delivered the hammer blow with Miami and now they must be laughing how the best engine ever built in Australia is now causing its maker to struggle

I remember back in 1980 when the demise of the Kingswood was announced and Holden went to a global platform, the strange Commodore thing from Opel.

Doom, gloom, the end of Australian Holdens, the sky is falling, the sky is falling.

Commodore seems to have done alright though.

If in 2016 the current vehicle we know as the Falcon is finally end of lifed and a new global platform takes its place we are possibly in a strong position to make the RHD versions for export to RHD countries.

All things end but rather than grieve maybe we should look forward to the next generation of "Son of Falcon" with anticipation.

Take all the good features from Mondeo, Taurus, Mustang, Focus and Falcon and apply them to the Ford "Messiah". What an amazing vehicle that would be........

I agree, the only reason i bought mine was the fact i picked it up for under $55k with only 3000k's i would never have bought one if i was paying rrp. Take away the engine and for $70k+ they really are poverty pack inside, i'll probably get flamed for saying it but seriously the interior of the GT etc does not fit with a $70k+ motor vehicle.

Anyway, ot rant over.

OK so Take away the nice interior and you just turned an Audi A4 into a Corolla..

Or you can have the Euro bling & gimzo's with the GT's grunt its called a C63 and its $170K

What your point.

I would have thought the point was pretty clear.
Price the vehicle realistically and it would have sold a shed load more.
Had it been sub 60k - sales figures would have been a lot more.
Sure, you can carry on all day about "what else can you get for 75k" - who cares what else you can get for 75k when people arent willing to put their hand in their pocket as they see it as being too expensive.
You can sell stuff all for a lot or you can sell a lot for stuff all.
One makes better business sense than the other and the sooner people start to realise this, the better.
