I love that engine, but visually they aren't that special. (nor is my T2)

I think visually a lot of the late model Fords suffer from a lack of symmetry withe the big intake pipe haning off one side. The Coyote doesn't and is better for it.

Look at the pic of the SOHC motor with twin 4 barrels is very easy on the eye.

The Italians Ferrari Alfa-Romeo etc have had some beautifully done engines.

My fave is a neat small block V8 with a single carb,

flat head are the best looking ford motor, but my god are they gutless and the 6 exhaust ports is soft, if one more person calls it a v6...

I always thought my E49 engine looked hot for a standard engine bay, this is as how it came from the factory. I took the black and white shots as they show fine detail better than the colour I find.

Not a big fan of the rotor, but this is my mates RX-7 engine bay:

Looks pretty cool with all the chrome.

With Falcon's, I think the AU VCT engine was one of the best detailed bays. Rocker cover a nice shade of red with grey accents and a tickford badge proudly on the front. The XE/XF EFi rocker cover & intake looked great also.

As for V8's, as mentioned above, I like the Boss 290/302/315 with the blue rocker covers ect. Personally, I think the engine bay presentation was the only step backwards in the update to the new 5.0 S/C.

As for appealing engines...I've painted my Holden engine a combination of orange and black. Starts with a black tappet cover and goes to an orange head to a black block and orange sump. The bolt on bits are the opposite colour to the engine part they're attached to. ie, black thermostat housing to break up the orange head.

I have a splattering of chrome thrown in, to mix it up too. Of course this isn't a factory "option", but seeing as people are throwing all sorts of weird and wonderful engines on here, I thought I'd throw this into the mix for funzies.

My idea of a good looking engine bay is having one focal point, the engine.

Even though they are older, the 186 or 202 holden motor with tripple SU's hanging off the side, twin AU thermos and the rest tucked away looks mighty slick!

or this......

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that we don't have 'Hoods' in Aus. We have Bonnets.

well it looks like T3 engine bay is a hit, their is just something about it. The big air filter with the unique air plenum and an aggressive engine cover. its just so different our of any modern v8 that has been produced! winner ;-)
