It came in the mail yesterday, downloaded the latest version of Forscan and plugged it in. Instantly recognised my car and went through all the tests. Then told me all the errors.... :-(

I was doing a quick search on Ebay for one of these and came up with a couple of anomalies .....

Autel Maxiscan MS300 from China $11.21 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Maxiscan-...item5d4b771c73

Autel Maxiscan MS300 from Aus $429.99 !! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Autel-Max...item2ecc63f50c

Now that's what I call making a profit (assuming he sells some)

Not sure what link you are looking at Rog, but I see the Buy it Now price at $49.99? A key point to remember, AUs are not fully OBDII compliant, which is mentioned in the listing.

Hey fellas. I bought an Elm327 OBD bluetooth dongle thing from ebay last week and it arrived today.
It is not a USB version.
I plug in into my Car (territory) and the red light comes on but I can't find it when scanning with my phone to connect to it via bluetooth.
Of course, it didn't come with any instructions.

you may need to first install an app to recognise the scanner. I have exactly the same bluetooth unit but I use a laptop and the Forscan program and my laptop wouldn't find the scanner till I installed Forscan.

I am not sure if it will make a difference because I don't have a USB cable connector on the unit? I have 2 different apps on the phone that connect to OBDII but I can't even find the device with my phone when it is plugged in and powered up (red solid light) to.

USB cable ? I thought you had a bluetooth ELM327. If you have the right app installed then as soon as you turn on your ignition so the idiot lights are illuminated then the bluetooth should become active and begin to transmit and your phone should see it. I think, like most bluetooth devices, you only have a short amount of time to see it before it stops transmitting a handshake so maybe you need to set your phone to search just before you turn on your ignition.

Ok people,

Can anyone provide me with some instructions?

I've got an old laptop and successfully installed the drivers and able to connect to my Ford AUII via the ORBII using Serial to USB connector.

The programme ForScan sees my vehicle and done a cycle test on the doors, but that's about it.

I would like it to go through my vehicle to see if there are any fault codes from the engine or elsewhere.

Can anyone let me know how to get ForScan to do this?
Thanks

I paid $5 for one off these elm readers off ebay. Tried it with forscan on my girlfriends mazda as it had a check engine light and it was instantly able to find the issues. Very cool product for such a low cost ! Haven't tried it on my AU as there hasn't been a need yet, it should work just fine!

Can anyone confirm this should work for me, AU2?

It is OBDII, CAN-BUS with ELM327. Should be good, right? Also, didn't want Bluetooth, want USB.

That's the same one I have and it works, takes a few seconds to communicate with the vehicle to establish connection.

I've had no problem with it.

The installation disc was the tricky one, you have to install the right drivers for your pc / laptop so the ELM327 can be recognised otherwise it wont work

Cheers, Bondy99

I also have the USB version of ELM 327, I installed the drivers on my laptop (Win 7) but no joy. Have tried many times with the same result, possibly a faulty ELM327 interface?

If your car (any brand) is made/imported AFTER 1 Jan, 2006 — then it's 100% OBD2 compliant.

is this right?

Its suppose to be.

My vehicle is made June 2000 and works good with the OBDII interface. It's a matter of playing with the driver software. I use this in conjunction with ForScan, works brilliantly

The unit I use is ELM327 Interface supports all OSBDII protocols - USB v1.5aThat's the unit I use and works.

I cannot say if the USB version after v1.5a works or not as I did not purchase it.

Mine works using Windows XP. I'm using ELM327 USB v1.5a Not the next version.

Maybe Windows 7 does not support it

The elm 327 should work with all versions of windows XP upwards, mobile phones and tablets. Something to note though if some of you aren't tech savvy the iPhone/iPad will not pick up the bluetooth version of the ELM due to Apple's very limiting software, you require the WiFi version, any android phone will be able to use the bluetooth version. Also if people are using laptops, you also require bluetooth/wifi capabilities to use subsequent wireless ELMs.

One thing to note is at least for me the computer will not pick up the bluetooth ELM unless my ignition is on, phone seems to pick it up still regardless....My 2cents

Bluetooth version and Windows 7 on a laptop here. Turn on ignition, start up Forscan and it finds the car immediately and then asks me what model AU ford I'm sitting in. It all works perfectly for me.

There's also a Wifi version for under $20 and I haven't seen a laptop made in the last 10 years that doesn't have Wifi.

Hi All

Having an issue connecting to my wifes AU XR8 series 3.
Connects then displays the following.

I have no problems connecting or reading with my AU XR8 pursuit 250 or my AU XR6 series2. Works very well with these vehicles.

Any thoughts?

Cheers
