Correct. I won’t “name and shame” the town, but doubt it was an outlying statistic.

They have replaced the Ecotec powered Commodore as the hoons choice these days. Instead of how low you can make your straight piped Holden, its how high and loud can you make a clapped-out Nissan Patrol, then a race to see how much air you can get going round corners. See it daily.

Whats got me, is that the "hoons in 4wd's" thing kicked off when P platers werent allowed to drive V8's and turbo's anymore..... yet every dumbass karen seemed surprised!

So they can go and do similar carry on in the bush and beach where there’s no one to enforce the law or rules.
Except many of them can’t resist and drive recklessly near pedestrian only parts of the beach or upload their antics on social media.
Then they throw a tantrum when the idea is floated of restricting 4wd access to these spots.

The banning of certain powertrain layouts made sense, as in limit the ability to go fast and potentially kill inexperienced drivers.

The funny thing is, I know of people in their 60's who go out buy a V8 Mustang having never driven a V8 let alone a rear-wheel drive vehicle. We don't ban that do we.

Then there was a period where lowering your Falcon or Commodore was running the gauntlet with the police. But we have nothing in place to stop someone putting massive (and useless) tyres and lift kits on tin cans Y60 and Y61 Patrol's. Or pointlessly loading up a roof rack with stuff to drive to and from work with. Hence the tip hazard.

At least the Commodores and Falcon's had a degree of handling and braking ability to avoid the tree or power pole.

Just my observations.

I got my p plates just before the first ban on v8s turbos and performance 6s (911s and m3s) for p platers. Exception being diesels. Now the rule for p platers is 130kw per tonne or something logical like that as turbocharged petrol cars these days doesnt always mean performance, its a fuel economy thing.
So it was to stamp out 'kids' buying clapped out vn executive v8s with no brakes and instinctavly aimed for trees.
At that time i by choice spent a lot of time driving a car much sketcher. Wb kingswood ute with a modified efi 304, th700r, minispooled diff and stock brakes. These days, would i let my son drive something like that? Nope, not at all. He can get his L's later this year and is keen to buy a car but it has to pass my 2 rules for car, and 1 for ownership. 2 rules are must have abs brakes and as a minimum a drivers airbag. Other rule is he must atleast insure it 3rd party property.
So 3 things you never want to use but glad to have if the worst happens.

Technically we have VSB14 limiting how high you can lift a 4wd, but thats easily skirted if your wallet is thick enough

Yet now we have a generation of cashed up P platers sending themselves past their eyeballs into debt to get 3-500HP landcruiser utes that are exempt from the V8/turbo restrictions because theyre diesels....

Pretty sure i made a well liked comment about banning cav from ai.
Anyhows, pub talk, a bloke was telling me then pointed out the bloke. The pointed out bloke said yeah. He got caught and served time. Took a while to catch him, but the name goat ****er was accurate. Agricultural high school he perused the paddocks out of hours, he 'did' 20 goats, or that what he was charged for. Thats just backwards, upside down and inside out. Just why? Makes zero anything.
