Ill take a 71 Challenger R/T 426 Hemi, Pistol Grip 4 speed thanks. With 15in ralleye wheels and rimblow wheel.
It had the body kit of the Mopars that were running in Nascar. Nosecone and big wing which were 440 magnums. While Joe's car probably wasn't one of them (damn, I hope it wasn't) I want the real thing.

They were either 440s or 426 Hemis, Autos (TF727) or Manuals (A833). The Superbird was based on the Plymouth Roadrunner (69 version) and the Daytona was based on the Dodge Charger 70 version). I think Joe Dirt's car was a 440 but he loved his Hemis.

Bloody expensive too easily in the $160,000 USD mark for the Hemi versions. :

I don't know why but there's just something about it that makes me drool. It's not a classically good looking car and if you pulled up at a set of lights, even Habib would probably give you crap over it, but I want one.

I had also read that if the wing was out a degree, it would scrub the rears out in a lap. Sounds a bit outrageous but then tyre technology isn't what it is today.

Yupe, they're not too my tastes but I can definitely respect what they are and the history of them. They cleaned NASCAR up. They're a high speed car, do about 14-15 second 1/4 miles in stock form but can push over 160mph.

There are repro body parts to clone one if you're that keen. You'll need a Roadrunner body for starters.....

Cheers mate,
Carl

Nice stuff Dr! What colour combo will your car be mate?
Those 265 screamers have to be the closest sounding thing to a V8 I've heard before.....they go hard too.

Sweet as mate, sounds like a nice car!! You should check out my NZ Mopar registry. Have a nosey, some nice cars in there, Aussie & American variety. See my signature for the address.

You can't beat the TorqueFlite-727 mate IMO. 0.10 difference in the 1/4 mile but the mods you spend on building up a 904 to make it as tough as a stock 727 can be used else where to gain that time (and then some) back. Nothing wrong with the TorqueFlite-904 either though.....both very capable of handling massive hp/T.

Post some photos when progress is made. ;)
