Who ever invented the term political correctness, and made society have to live with it should be strung up by the neck and hung till they were dead.

What ever happened to calling a spade a spade? or telling it like it is?

This society is drowning in rules and regulations, and sooner than later we will have less rights than the commies did living behind the iron curtain.

Oh and I have no issues with peoples beleifs toward religon, but if someone tries to push that on me, then I am not the nicest person around.

I refuse to ever accept Australia as a Christian society...NEVER

So sad that people crack the sads over stupid stuff like this.

Easy solution:
You - Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays/whatever you wanna say
Other person cracks the sads with you because you somehow offended the person by trying to be friendly and nice
You - Well you can go F*&^ yourself if your going to be such a ****er over me trying to be friendly.

This way if they wish you a happy holidays, or crack the sads you have a great holiday!

Our country's laws are based on the Ten Commandments...it is the underpinnings of our society, the moral fabric (IMHO). Parliament opens with Prayer normally by a different Pastor/Priest and Our Courts still swear on the Bible. We are allowed the opportunity of Free Speech because of our Democratic right (Dont get that mixed up with Capitalism) or free will. We have Democracy because we are Predomiantly a Christian Nation. Christianity is meant to be a Tolerant Faith (though it doesnt always seem like it hey ).
The Biggest Victims of Political Correctness (next to dicatorships) are Democratic Nations...funnily enough...

Im not saying this to get up anyones nose, just expressing my opinion ok?

It would all be quite funny if it weren't so socially destructive! Political correctness is a cancer on society and I have no hesitation in telling these PC types exactly where they can shove their hypocritical and belittling pandering.

Oh, and Merry Christmas everyone!

I myself and many others say the words "merry christmas" without even slightly acknowledging its true meaning. Christmas is being generally interpreted as a holiday family get together. Like someone mentioned, the levels of worship are much lower than any stats. For example, i'm catholic (or was baptised etc..) however don't believe in any kind of god. So are all of my mates and a lot of people I know. In fact I find it quite surprising when I find out someone my age goes to church (not that its a bad thing or anything). Christian religion is dying and quickly, islam is strong as ever, and people who complain about the meaning of "happy holidays" have too much time to waste.

Dear CompanyX,

I was disappointed and offended by the letter from CompanyX that accompanied my November invoice, wishing me a happy holiday season.

Australia is a Christian country and celebrates Christmas at this time of year and I would expect that any company that is proud to operate in Australia would wish their clients a happy Christmas at this time of year.

Merry Christmas to you, CompanyX!

sure, i celebrate christmas on dec 24- but that doesnt mean im offended when someone says merry christmas. If someone says "happy holidays" i get the shits, and think to myself "grow some balls you spineless pr!ck"

I hate the whole PC thing, its rediculous and counter productive.

Well i would also like to complain, but where to i don't know, for me christmas / or the festive season is like my sex life and has come to early, so i need to write a letter to who ever gives a care, and complain that it snuck up on us again and could they please delay it for another 4 weeks, this will give me time to grab some extra $ for those late minute festive presents , allow me to finish my outstanding work load and several other duties before i enjoy my festive beer. :

enjoy all, regardless of faith, and i hope we all learn to respect each others rights and beliefs and live together in peace.

agnostic = open mind, there are no definates, anything is possible but at least not to their knowledge, I consider myself agnostic and trust me, I think about the origin/fate of the world a lot and have big discussions with mates about it. Atheist and religion are just 2 opposite extremes.

Political correctness - in the sense which we are talking - is a figment of the collective imaginations of paranoid individuals who are looking for an excuse to whinge, complain and talk about "the downfall of society".

A ficticious problem that is fuelled by the media's selection of half truths and filtering of facts. Further encouraged by the chinese wispers of heresay.

I spent all afternoon, going about my life, looking for these horrific examples of how my life is being squashed by political correctness. No sign yet, but I'll let you know if i can find any - and you can put that up anyone you want!!

Political correctness is the collective effort of the minority and majority groups in Australia! The fact that we are made up of such a cross-section of people/religion's/nationalities etc.. causes the mass of contradicting opinions to favour the majority groups! Australia needs to accept free speech and not allow any complaints from any group within Australia or we will self-destruct in the end!!!

is it just me, or is a point being missed here??

this person was offended by the term 'happy HOLIDAY season'

maybe, just maybe, they've seen red over the 'holiday' part because they are one of the poor suckers that still have to work on the week between xmas and new year and nothing else....

and my opinion.... there is a good reason why they are the one stuck at work, and whinging, b1tchy reply's to a genuinely decent message like 'wishing a happy WHATEVER' are a great starting point!!

Some things are worth complaining about like sexually explicit ad's during prime time television...
Things like this (an ad about meat) i would classify as extreme knit picking though (spelling)
Its not even the Muslium community as a collective complaining...just the Muslim Minority within the Muslim community...

Fictitious? Better tell that to my friend who works at Citigroup, who was telling me the other day about a brand new policy for terminology they have introduced, about the way that "this time of year" is to be handled by all staff. They cannot use the word "Christmas" as it apparently the word is deeply offensive. It must be referred to as "The Festive Season". Decorations, cards, any visible signs are not allowed of course. Failure to comply with this initiative will result in formal warnings.

Fortunately a lot of people still have their common sense and manners, and treat others with respect regardless of what they believe in or where they are from or what colour underwear they prefer. That is NOT political correctness.

I am religious (Christian) and I have no problem with atheists, and I have never pushed my religion onto anyone (to me it is a very personal thing). But your last sentence to me sounds like many atheists - i.e. that anyone religious cant think for themselves and was brainwashed into it by their parents. This couldn't be further from the truth for me - I believe in what I believe from my own life experiences.

Regarding the original letter I don't think the person writing it is spineless or pathetic as suggested, maybe they just felt enough is enough? I think the company is a little spineless about not just writing Merry Christmas (not that I would complain about it, I probably wouldn't even have noticed it). My 2c anyway.

Well obviously i cant comment on the validity of this claim... and staff policies usually not something a company cares to comment on.

I'm happy to assume it is accurate tho. That's one company? Hardly a viscous cancer throughout society. And well, im not sure that being required to keep your christmas cards in the drawer really signifies the end of our many liberties. A matter of opinion on that point i guess.

We may not agree on a few things, but that's the most sensible thing ive read in this thread!

I'll drink to that - Merry Christmas.

Nobody get angry over this its just my opinion.

Muslims: seem to take every offensive and think everyone is against them (like another race in Australia, but I won't get into that)

Cristians: are an exceptive and willk rarely push on any subject because thats the way they are.

I was always getting yelled at at school due to opinion mainly by a certain group who take everything to offense even if it doesn't have anything to do with them.
Some people need to chill and have another drink.
