Of course the syrup is highly corrosive. They just water it down. Why battery acid is just watered down sulfuric acid and that's perfectly safe to drink....

It's on the internet, it must be true!

Coke concentrate promotes rust but is not corrosive. At work we bought a 1000L tank with a about 1/4 litre of concentrate left inside.

I hope that acid comment was made in sarcasim :

Rob, you sarcastic? NEVER! :hihi:

Santa Clause was originally different colours (I think it was green, red, purple etc), then when Coca Cola started using him to advertise he then became the red and white clad man we know today.

Quote:
In an era before color television (or commercial television of any kind), color films, and the widespread use of color in newspapers, it was Coca-Cola's magazine advertisements, billboards, and point-of-sale store displays that exposed nearly everyone in America to the modern Santa Claus image. Coca-Cola certainly helped make Santa Claus one of the most popular men in America, but they didn't invent him.

Coke recalled an advertising poster due to a hidden pornographic image within the poster.

If the coke syrup was corrosive, then it would need to be mixed with a basic solution to neutralise the pH.
It wouldn't be safe to drink.
It's only mixed with water and then carbonated.

The syrup looks and smells like molases.

Another water fact - 'the universal solvent' - it is capable of disolving more substances than anything else on earth.

Also next time you have a common problem like a cold or even just a headache - try just drinking a heap of water constantly (just continually sipping it) and you may be surprised how effective and simple a cure it can be.

Steve.

Coke is corrosive. Just not highly corrosive. Wanna know something else? Water's corrosive too. Ever heard of the Grand Canyon?

Yeah, I agree. In my late teens (before I became aware of my health!) I used to drink Coke, and switched to Pepsi. I noticed straight away that it tasted like scotch and coke (says alot about my teenage years :baby bott )

So I stuck to Pepsi. One day much later, I tried Coke - and thought it was gruesome!

Now I drink water, and if any soft drink passes my lips all I can taste is pure sugar. Not only that, it does NOT quench my thirst!

Keep in mind the following.

We in australia drink what is referred to as the "new" coke in the US
In the US they drink "classic" coke, which is a different formula.

They taste different, infact in the US, coke tastes more like Pepsi, and Pepsi tastes more like the coke we get here.. go figure, and are likely to have different properties, and thus one set of myths might be correct in one, and not in the other.

And finally, cokes only purpose is to serve as a medium for bourbon to travel to my kidneys.

Didn't Pepsi change the flavour about 5+ years ago ??

Pepsi Max tastes way better.

I find even just the bottle its in makes a difference. Coke in a glass bottle tastes better than from a plastic one...maybe its all in my head ?

Hahaha, more like premium unleaded. As in, only the best for my car, same as for me.

Seriously, because I can't drink "normal" coke (because I have insulin dependant diabetes), I've got a choice of Diet Coke, Pepsi MAX, or the various different flavours of Diet Coke. Diet Coke is DISGUSTING (I think it should be outlawed, as it is a torture to have to drink that rubbish), I actually like the various flavours of diet coke - as long as they are ICE cold (and the lime one tastes to me like it should have vodka mixed with it, LOL), but out of the normal cola flavours, Pepsi MAX is easily the best carbonated cola drink.

I honestly don't know how anyone can drink normal coke (or any other sugary carbonated drink for that matter), if someone hands me a normal coke I can tell as soon as the liquid reaches my mouth, the biggest give away is that it is more like syrup then my normal drinks, which is (to me anyway) really disgusting.

Keep in mind that for the last 13 (nearly 14) years I have been unable to drink Coke (or normal Pepsi for that matter), and for many years would choose to drink water out of a tap rather then diet coke, so it's probably also a matter of what I'm used to.
