Adelaide drivers seem abit slower, but its a cinch to drive in Adelaide. the place is set out well to accomodate that... we are in squares and straights roads, unlike canberra's circles and semi circle roads hehehe, even though canberra is quite easy too, must be a population thang!

and hey i used to live on glen osmond, and as if you take that road when its busy, just back track it on side streets and you'll pass everyone, trust me... same with most busy roads...dont be a sheep and follow the rest.

sadly we dont have the road infrastructures the other cities have, so the typical response to traffic issues is I wont let anyone in if its going to save me 1.3seconds of my time.

The things that annoy me with SA traffic:

1) People who think they can fit into a gap in the next lane no bigger than a wheel barrow as a last minute dash to not be held up by a bus, and therefore almost causing a chain collision.

2) People who indicate once and think that is sufficient time to change lanes as already mentioned.

3) People who speed up in the middle lane on purpose so they dont let you on the left lane in.

4) People who are indecisive with changing lanes and in effect slow the pace of the traffic behind them. For instance I had a lady who had indicated sufficiently, I left her a gap, but she took 2kms to change lanes and was so fidgity when doing so and then had the nerve to go slower!

5) People who think that the pulling into the right hand lane on the expressway is ok if you are overtaking a truck doing 50kph and your car is only capable of doing 70kph up the hill and therefore banking up the traffic and making everyone who does the limit lose momentum.

6) Dangerous drivers who swerve from lane to lane thinking they can beat 1 car over the length of a 10km stretch of road.

7) Multiple Truck drivers who refuse to pull into the left hand lane and block faster traffic.

8) I know I have more gripes but cant think of them all right now.

I think the main issue is that we share the roads here with Buses, truckes and even backhoe operators with the common working folk each day in 2 lane roads each way. Having these roads so congested with such combined traffic ruins the flow and in turn causes car drivers to unherit road rage.

I feel a 3-4 lane freeway each way like the freeway between the gold coast and brisbane will ease the tension between drivers as we have more options to get past the much slower vehicles.

Sadly SA doesnt have the cash nor the incline to want to provide us with a feeway of such, instead we get half a freeway called an expressway which I beleive is the laughing stock of freeways in the whole of australia. its as if SA cant afford a freeway so why bother. It only saves me 5 minutes over using south road. Sometimes south road is less congested.

rant over.

I hate it when trucks do that, they cant go faster than one another, but they must be next to the other truck, so you end up taking 10 mins to get through an intersection which should have taken 30sec, and then some of them race each other, doing 70ks in a 60 zone and the like, those things are harder to stop in an emergency than one of out nicely maintaned cars with more than capable brakes

i hate it when you do something nice and you dont get acknowledged for it. like a simple wave or smile would make my time on the roads alot happier.

i have some good friends who live in adelaide and they swear that the worst drivers in the country are there - only been there once and yeah there were a few 'dumb' drivers out there like most other places. Mildura is a really sucky place to drive too, all the locals sit like 10kms below the limit and coming from nsw where if you dont do at least 5 over you get honked at - its really, really frustrating. Oh well, gotta relax i spose

bout the truck not taking off fast, i know they are slow when the have a load on but they can take off faster than what they do i was waiting to turn from grand junction to south rd today and the light when green to turn the truck in front took of that slow that it was only him and a van that got through.

also i find that although in a 50 km speed limit zone everyone does 50-55 then when cops are driving the other way and they see me going past people at 60 they think that im speeding.

I like the cops in Adelaide, they dont have many speed patrols/any patrols. I used to drive 80km/h in the opposite direction to them all the time, never turned around. Back when I was younger. Was pulled over doing 80 in a 40 zone, just came from the pub, had been smoking cones, had one p plate on the dash. The cops asked if I had been smoking illegal substances, didnt breatho me, told me if I kept driving like that I would have an accident. Fined me for not having a p plate up, no demerit points back then, $70 fine. That is the only time I have been pulled over in Adelaide, and I have driven more there than Murray Bridge, drove more crazy in Adelaide(when was younger), and have been pulled over at least 6 times in Murray Bridge for no/little reason.
