My friend is renting out a brand new 30 square Henley home on 1/2 an acre in Mornington for $360 a week, although thats pushing being SE Melbourne I guess. If you want something decent you will have to be prepared to either pay big $$$, or live a bit further from the CBD.

Your going to have pot luck with your neighbours. It's just the way it is. I had shocking ones next door to my last home. They were part the reason I sold. Now I've got great neighbours but this house is up forsale too. Hope I get good neighbours! I'm downsizing my house/mortage so I can have more play money ;)

Yeah, Dingley is good. Personally I'm moving back to Mordialloc soon. Love that place...

I've lived in Frankston my whole life, went to school here, have worked here and seen the very worst it has to offer. I'm moving up to Edithvale in two weeks.

I think I'll miss Frankston (not that I'm moving to the other end of the world or anything!). In a few years when house values are too high for all the **** that currently live here and they all get pushed inland it'll be a perfect place to live.

That's too true BA Turbs. Cranny and the wasteland beyond out to Pakenham will turn trashy. A lot of dollars are being poored into Frankston.

You know, I've lived in the reputed worst parts of Frankston and the pines and even went to Monterey Tech. I can't say its as bad as its reputation. I used to hang around the streets to all hours and never really got into anything too rough...

I'm in Oakleigh South, just the other side of Huntingdale station. I agree great place to live. Heaps of Greeks so the coffee is good in cafes, the cake shops are something else and you can always get fresh goat at the butchers (fair dinkum!)

If you can afford it AU302, Oakleigh or the surrounding suburbs are worth a look.

Thats C R A P...

The Pines has a 40 year old stigma attched to it....
Its not Camberwell ..... nor upper Berwick
Yes there are a few rough nuts floating around there....
but its NOTHING like what it used to be !

Fact is...
no matter where you live choose the location within the suburb wisely...
on a main street , then expect
p i s sed kids to walk by shouting crap at 2am....

Berwick... or Frankston North... regardless

Like said before, Mornington is good place to stay, a bit far to drive, but nice quiet streets, little to no scum(unlike franston), it's got heaps of buses, everything what you need. The only area of Mornington i would avoid is tanti park: very much in the same mould as the pines is to frankston.
Cheers

Tanti Park is proof that Pines people can use buses.

^^^^hahahahahaha. As ba turbs said, frakston will be worth a ИИИИ load within the next 10-20 years, as the marina goes in, also there are parts (south) and olivers hill area, which go for 1m+ and then on the other side the pines. Worlds apart.

Either way you will find that the closer to the CBD will be more expensive also pick carefully as there are some dodgey areas close to the city
