Also, i believe the engine requires a slightly richer mixture at idle to keep the mass of rotating parts spinning over at a slow speed idling = bad, back in the old days of carby`s it would have been even worse as the old carbys where not known for precise fuel control.

And more fuel is injected to compensate for the stuff that condenses on the cylinders.

Penrite. Been using it for 15 years now, and the only time I saw it start to fade was after mtiple high speed runs in summer. Mildly worked 351 on gas and about 6000 ks since last change. It was hpr gas 20/60 oil, so always looked clean, but checking dipstick, oil dripped when it normally doesn't.

When it was changed it was very watery, which concerned me damage may have been done. No damage and a fresh change, all was forgiven.
I was using a 25/70 in my old scorpion and old man had a few containers of mobil 25/60 older engine oil so decided to use that. Burnt a hell of a lot more, to the point I almost ran the sump dry in less than a week. Never happened with the penrite, weekly checks (about 900km) and only needed a top up once in 5000km. Same with the 351. Will never use so called name brand oils in a older car. Not saying they're bad, but once bitten. |

how is that being a Troll , maybe there high end stuff is ok(i dont know) but after using and seeing others use the cheaper valvoline xld in the 90's and seeing a grey rubber looking buildup in head and dropping oil pressure in more than one car , its the old once burnt twice shy for me
