What a load of BS.

RHD Camaro/corvette if available is 2-3 years away so GM need to release something to the press to slow down Mustang being a success. Talking closely to Ford exec's here pre order sales of Mustang in NZ and AUS are very good and Holden have nothing to compete against it with.

Holden name will be gone once Crapodore is finished.

Hmmm, certainly not a competitor for Mustang here IMHO, see the price of the thing in the US? What will that equate to here?

What a BS story.

The Corvette won't come here. This is all about trying to temper the effect of the Mustang launch here.

the article doesn't make sense, the vet is a stand alone platform that will require substantial rework for R/H drive.

the Camaro runs the same zeta as the commodore does, so if anything more likely the Camaro will come in both L/H and R/H drive..

Forget about the Camaro in the terms we know now, come 2017 the Zeta platform is dead, alpha will replace it. And the caddy ATS comes as a coupe...

It is going to be fun to watch Holden crash and burn.

They should call whatever they are bringing the SS Titanic as it will be way out of the price point that makes the SS Commodore attractive to people who want a V8.

I think come 2020 the badge will be retired...and the bowtie will replace it. Holden will be the only nameplate without manufacturing....

GM, GMH, Corvette, Holden, whatever. We all know what they are. If you think changing the badge is going to make that much of a difference and a brand will be dead or 'crashing and burning' then i just think you are clutching at straws a bit.

I mean seriously How many people put chev badges on Commodores?! To the point now where ir doesn't even raise an eyebrow.

Just saying that the whole holden v ford thing can get a bit petty sometimes (ie rejoicing in crashing and burning)... I love the cars that come from both brands I hope they both continue to prosper in whatever guise and we get mustangs and corvettes and camaros and whatever else

So if the Holden mob have no Holdens will they put Holden badges on there Chevs? Or should the Camaro or Vette be sullied by the Red Lion will they swap them for Chev badges? I mean it makes more sense then a chev badge on a 6cyl commodore.

Why the hate for the Holden badge ?!
They have made some great performance cars over the decades imo.

If you are an Aussie car enthusiasts then why would you be happy about them shutting down ?

I really hope they retire the Holden badge out of respect to the brand. But I don't take any satisfaction from it. It's kinda sad really, lot's of great memories from both Ford Aus and Holden.

Let's face it, both Ford Aus and Holden are American owned but it was nice having something unique to us from the both of them.

One less thing that was unique about Australia.

I'm a ford fan but I hoped no manufacturing stopped. Better for the country to have cars been built no matter what brand.
Tough time for people working in the industry.

A 10 year old model. Good comparison

I'll bet it wouldn't see which way the new one went once it hits the track.

Corvette, Camaro and Mustang are all great prospects for Australia but I would guess the majority of car enthusiasts have kids or are planning on having kids in the near future.
Even though I currently drive a ute (company car) I wouldn't have any interest in the cars mentioned above but I would be willing to look at a Cadillac!

Sedans and wagons in both auto and manual would be great especially if price was reasonable - V series Caddy's have huge performance and I really like the way they look.

Anyone who thinks GM is going to drop the Holden badge is well & truly pulling it too hard. The Holden badge is what is selling cars for GM in Australia. You only have to look at their cars, all crap compared to Ford ones, yet they still manage to out sell most of Ford's products, as well as Mazda & Hyundai ones. The badge Holden is going nowhere!!

Holden > made in Australia.

Thats why the badge sells, they have made such a thing out of being "Australian" that the average car buyer still thinks that all Holdens are made here.

Holden shutting down production here now raises the question of where the car is built...
