It must have been a demo driven on trade plates. A proper demonstrator is a registered car. Many are dealer stock that haven't sold that the manufacturer wants it off their books, so the dealer "buys" it by regoing it and it becomes their own car, so it cannot be accessed by dealer transfer and doesn't appear as a stock vehicle anymore. Even though the car is effectively new with only demo kM it is a used car with warranty and rego ticking away for each day it has been registered.

^^^ There are a bunch of these late 2013 plate XR6 demos or 'exec driven demos' around at the moment, mostly in VIC, all with 2000-5000 km. Awesome value at that money...... better value than the '12 e'boost with 20Kkm on it, I would say.

If the E'boost XT in the City Ford ad is a 2012 with 20,000km, that is a used car, not a proper demo at all. I would assume that it is registered as well, with likely one year or so of factory warranty remaining.

I seem to recall that if a dealer sells a car on their lot as a 'demo' and they make a certain sale quota, they get some additional factory deal or incentive or something like that. I believe it is a way of manipulating their sales figures for a given cycle. Can anybody confirm this ?

My neighbour purchased a crew cab 4X4, Had to wait for the shipment coming soon.

The car arrived and he was in a hurry to receive it so they dealer swaped to a different colour floor model that was in stock but not regoed. But they later contacted him to offer a deal to deliver the car on the first of the next month sold as a showroom display vehicle fitted with extras like canopy roof racks for free.

They also gave him the company demo to use on his vacation.

My dad waited 4 weeks for a triton to get a tray back and they discounted it to get sales volume up over a quota to allow them to choose dealer stock.
