It's amusing that people who go on about 'cop bashing' don't seen to have a problem with 'forum member bashing'.

They should bring back the VT drag car that raced down here as part of operation drag safe or something along those lines around 10 years ago

I'm at the State Library on Mondays and Wednesdays. I missed this!

I would have had a nice chat with the boys in blue.

I wonder if they are still covered by warranty? (LOL!)

What a concept! With the publicity they could get from this taking it to schools, Tafe's etc they could use it as a career marketing tool!

If I didn't have committments to stay in my area and they had them here in Vic I'd enlist just to drive that!

Is this supposed to scare real criminals or just plain bogans???

Seriously how is this even beneficial to Ford??? ... promoting your cars as fleet specials does nothing for resale value! FPV should have never been selling their models to fleets ... ohh well I guess they are simply happy with ANY sale they can get.

I dare say FPV and every other car maker out there, do not rely on resale to keep going. Once a car is out of warranty, then it is not the manufactures problem.

Once the FPV is sold, FPV do not make any more on the car, apart from service.

You have to remember manufacturers do not sell second hand cars, they sell brand new cars.

It is good to see a awsome car being used by the boys in blue. It is also great marketing for FPV.

More of a PR exercise mate.
Not only that, but it shows Ford supporting the local constabulary, which hopefully translates to orders.
Be better though if Alexander Downer was the premier - he's a massive petrol head with a Ford fetish.

I don't get it...

-Ford, and FPV are getting tonnes of free publicity
-The Police force have taken an interest in car enthusiasts, hence the exhaust mods, showing us that they are not against us.

Yet people are whinging?

Police already have Clubsports, F6's etc...I'd bet a paddy wagon ends up costing a fair bit fully decked out...so why whinge about cost?

Just like the Army builds burnout cars, and the Airforce show their jets at Bathurst etc...all about recruitment, about showing of the job.

We should be proud that the police chose a FORD, for the 150th anniversary of the force. Ford and the police have a good history, with the poilce pack XR falcon all but providing the basis for the iconic GT.

And lets not forget mad max!

Some people are too uptight.

I for one an happy that my tax money bought a R-spec...

I bought an R-spec!!!!

Awesome stuff. Good to see the Police can get in on the action.

Id happily be pulled over by one of them. Swapping stories with a nice enough cop would be well worth the fine.

kinda stupid since they give up at 160kmh.

Also the point is not to engage in high speed chases for obvious reasons.

thats why they have road spikes, a radio and a helicopter.

A 500 rear wheel horsepower falcon is unlikely to see run of the mill highway work, more likely it will be used strategically for high vis civic PR duties and the like.

Can you imagine the crap that would hit the fan if this thing got bent, or a vehicle that it chased got bent? I can read the headlines now, the do-gooder high brow types would have a field day. So would grimshaw.

I hope it's received positively, and that it's used to build some cred and good will with those that need re-educating on the value and civic worth of the boys in blue.
