Hey all - loving this thread! IMO these devices are out there to relieve you from the hard earned + make you hard learned! There's obviously a market out there for this "stuff" though - I'm just not in the market! Here's another link from an objector to this crap: http://www.carbibles.com/fuel_engine_bible_pg6.html
Cheers!

Been getting various parts of wrecks lately.
Haven't bothered to remove the VIP Stop Rust gadget from the engine bay on this wreck. Might have to grab it, advertise it on Gumtree and then laugh at anyone who calls.

[QUOTE=2011G6E;4302974]Let's see...fit one of these amazing devices, save about 10% fuel economy. Fit a Fuel Doctor and save another 25%. Fit a HiClone, and get up to 25% increase in economy...hell, fit two and get another 25% as well. Fit one of those spark things that used to go on top of the dizzy and save another 10%. Fit an electric turbo and save another 10%. Then maybe fit a fuel linemagnet and get another 10% saving. Find some of those magic fuel pills that you used to be able to buy, and save another 10% or so, ]

Best way to increase your fuel economy is with your accelerator.

I forgot to ask Phildo, other than the surface rust near the unit in your pic, what was the condition (re:rust) in the rest of the wreck ?

There was an article in one of the car magazines a few years ago about Rare Spares, and how they are manufacturing Falcon and Commodore parts that Ford and Holden no longer sell. The journo asked about Polarisers, which got a rather unwelcome response from the Rare Spares guy. People do ring up asking for them, apparently. Quote:
However, my speculative conclusion is that the electronic signals from the VIP Stop Rust migth have affected the driver and caused the crash. Maybe it has successfully prevented the car rusting by making the driver destroy the car before it could rust?

Serious for a moment. I believe there is something to these bogus fuel saving devices. If you spend your money on a device that you think will save you petrol you will subconsciously drive in a more economical manner. Just like the $1000 power cord that makes your HiFi sound better...
I'm Quite keen on a group buy for the oil rig. A recently deceased rich uncle I've never heard of will pay my share.

What about the extra cost of petrol to go to the post office to pick up the parcel?

Obviously at the centre of these scams is some cyncial crook happy to exploit idiots, but what's incredible is how well-meaning genuine people will tout its benefits.

This stuff reminds me of that show Mighty Car Mods. You can watch their episodes on youtube.
Hilarious way to do some myth-busting. |

5th Gear tv show recently showed a bunch of different "fuel savers", and with the help of a controlled dyno test, showed a slight increase in fuel consumption. They went even further to see how they are manufactured and low and behold it did not surprise me.
Nothing more than highway robbery. If you make a claim about a product, there should be some evidence to back it up. |
