We had something very similar here in Tas a couple of weeks ago. Went to bed with a clean car, went outside the next morning noticed this red crap all over the driveway and pavers, then saw my car !!! and thought WTF !! : It was everywhere.
Turned out it came over from Swan Hill area.

Hope this isn't a n00b question (my weather knowledge is next to nothing), could you see the storm from space? As in would it look discolored?

Ah Queensland, beautiful one day, dusty with an ambience of mars the next!

Put this one up so you can see how much dust has collected on our Mini's roof in about an hour.

A common occurrance here in the Mallee.

The dust was that heavy last time, we couldn't see down the hallway inside the house it was that dark.
Millions of tons of topsoil floating right past your front window on the way to somewhere else. I remember seeing a photo some time ago of the snow peaked mountins way down south (in NZed) and they were red. It was because of the dust that had blown across the Tasman from Oz.

Yeah after being inside all day just left work and my usually blue TE has a nice shaded mix of blue/brown. You can even taste the dust its that thick. Brisbanes already busy car washes will be crowded come the end of the week.

The wife has been onto me to wash the outside windows on the house for a few weeks now. I Said I'll get to it when I have time.
I just said to her I have the time to wash those windows today, do you want me to do them ?
The phone went silent, must be some dust in the airwaves....

I didn't actually notice it this morning until I went to the outhouse turned on the tap and brown water started filling the sink, take a look out the window and its all red.

At least its mostly light dust and washed off easily.

Once this clears can someone get some clear shots form the same vantage points to show us that were unaffected by it just how bad it was.

Pilbara Iron had some extra dust this month from it's mining operations, Normally this is distributed thou the north west, but this time we figured since NSW don't mind sharing in WA mining royalty's wile contributing nothing back we figured they can share in some of the Dust aswell!! :

Sorry to all you guys in QLD the dust got a little out of control.
