For those who love useless stats: this will be geelong 7th grandfinal appearance in the last 21 years, for a total of 1 premeriship.

So you're saying that Geelong will lose then? That's how I'm reading it.

On past form yes, they are the biggest chokers when it comes to the GF.

We all know that recent form has nothing to do with a GF, let alone past form, so not much to read into there.

He said it will be Geelongs 7th GF appearence, for 1 Premiership. Since they've only appeared in 6, and their 7th will be this Saturday, I can only assume he's saying they won't win then.

Very true RG.

Mind set is the only thing you can bring to the game from previous weeks, either team could smash the other on any given day....starting to get excited now.

If thats the weather report I am glad ill be in front of the plasma...LOL

Either that or he simply got his numbers wrong.

The feelings mutual Maurie! The only difference is I wouldn't even know if any NRL teams are sponsored by Ford or not! Atleast you know that much about our game.

My 2 bobs worth.

Match will be won with 2 minutes to go, 1 kick in it. (With fans chompin' at the bit in an agonising 120 seconds of shear pain or ecstacy)

St.Kilda to win by 4 points. And the ball will be just in Geelong's forward line, with 1 sec to go.

GO SAINTS!

I just hope it's close, most finals are close before one team runs away with it

What happening in previous teams has no bearing on the current team, which is 1 win and 1 loss, with the chance to be 2 and 1.

Go the catters.

The same as there opponents GF record.............
And what is the record of GF win/losses for the current team and coach ?
What they did in the late 80's and early-mid 90's is completley irrelivant. There would not be 1 decision making person in those sides to todays team.

Youse ??? Didn't know that was a word :

If they do loose they would probably be one of the best sides with the least results along with Essendon of the late 90's and early 00's.

True, but its a fact. We have a terrible record in the big dance, hopefully this year we can cement ourselves as one of the great teams of the modern era.

With Harley almost certain to retire and Scarlett and milburn in the twilight of the careers we must make the most of our chances, remember next year and the year after the new teams will bleed to talent pool dry with all their draft picks. so we must live for the moment and let tomorow take care of itself.

CARN THE CATTERS!

Go back, take the time to read all of my posts in this thread and you'll find that what you just said is exactly what I said quite a while ago.

Grow up, calm down and relax.

Fair enough, you got me on a typo....

Good luck to the Don's next year.

Anyway, back on topic, if the forecast for Sat happens, it will probably negate any dominance from Rooey or Kozi and probably suit our smaller forwards better. Geelong may have more experience in extreme weather conditions too down at Geelong.

But then you also have St Kilda's smaller blokes that can stand up in a bit of bad weather too.

If you ask me the two teams are pretty bloody closely matched no matter the conditions and the likes of an Ablett, Stevie J, Riewoldt or a Dal Santo could be the difference.

Keeping some players fresh via the interchanges could play into the outcome as well. If the game is played hard and the weather is crap there will be some tired bods towards the end

i was going to start a new thread but probably not really worth it. this is slightly off topic.

for the last few arvo/nights, ONEHD has been replaying recent great close grand finals. i'd forgotten what a great rivalry sydney had with west coast. no matter how many times you see leo barry take that mark you never get sick of it. tonight they had on the rematch. what a game. the players were absolutely dead on their feet by the end and to finish with 1 point in it, in the sydney forward line... great game.

if the game on saturday is anything like these old games (not that old) then it should be a beauty. i must admit, i liked the rules a lot better too. (even though it was only 3yrs ago). i guess geelong supporters will like the game on tomorrow, the port supporters - not so much!

i'll be barracking for st kilda on saturday. no real reason except geelong for me are only marginally behind collingwood for the teams i hate the most.

Best pre game entertainment they've had at a GF in ages!

They've applied the KISS principle, which is how it should be.

I'd like the Saints to win, but have this feeling the Cats will pull it off again. Hope it's a close game like the Swans versus Eagles in '05 and '06.
