Who cares what it tastes like if you're mixing it with coke? Or out of a can for that matter.

Only time you should be mixing is if you're out to get hammered. If you're in it for the taste either straight up, neat or on the rocks.

the jim bottles in the cradle are 5l im pretty sure,took me 2 weeks to finish mine when i got it that was in '97

i think bundy now make a bourbon as well

My (cheap) drop of choice is jamisons with just a splash of water.
I Love the 12 year old jamisons and some single malts straight, but they are too expensive for "day to day" drinking.

Bourbon gets its legal title from its ingredients (corn, wheat or rye, barley), the proof at the time of barrelling and the barrelling process.

Most of its from kentucky, but it dont have to be. Its just corn based whiskey.

I tried a Jim Beam whisky that went under the name of Bookers. It was the smoothest, tastiest whiskey I've had straight. I was so nice, I didn't dare mix it!

Bourbon is currently almost always brewed in Kentucky barring a few exceptions. I think Marks S is quite aware of the fact that Kentucky is in the USA.

Booker Noe's - unbelievably good bourbon about $85 or so a bottle YUMMMMM

a few other good ones are Baker's, Basil Hayden, Makers Mark and Woodford Reserve.

Of all the cheap bourbons out there I'd say Evan Williams is the best (for the price range). I'd even say that it is better than Wild turkey.

Makers Mark is very smooth too, Makes you wonder why Jim Beam spend so much on advertising.

Celtic Crossing is a whiskey liqiuer. Hard to get it here. I sent a crate of the stuff back home last trip the the Green Isle. Almost gone now. Must be time for another trip.

There is NO good pre-mix Whisky (or bourbon), it all gives me gut rot, nothing beats out of the bottle, a good black label Johnny is a good start.

Yeah tonight I bought some smirnoff double balck and some smirnidff lemo =n ice.

It taste significantly better than cheap scotch but it's a bit girly but alright for a good cheap drink.

It also got me semi drunk!

You are absolutely spot on there. JD, previously known as Tennessee Sippin' Whiskey, is from Tennessee only. Call it Bourbon and you'll end up wearing it.

My favourite Bourbon is Elijah Craig closely followed by JB Small Batch. E Craig was awarded "Best of the Best Bourbon" in 2001 by Whisky Magazine and received a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. But my favourite Whiskies, however, are The Macallan 12 YO Single Malt and Lagavulin 16 YO Malt. Each gets a 90+ score in the best tasting guides. Both are quite different styles; Lagavulin is an Islay island malt while TM is a Speyside variety.

Whiskey and Whisky should be consumed neat

As it says on the back of TM bottle, 'please savour responsibly'

I'll vote for Glen Fiddich.. I found it very smooth... I would like to try JW Blue , maybe when I hit the big 50.. I like bourbons, although I really only had Jb , Beams choice ,and JD. Iam not allowed to drink it though , it makes me a bit fiery !!!
And nothing beats a good liqueur port !!

fantastic for the price is the black douglas silver+black lable (not the normal one with the gold+black lable). Its allot smoother - the difference between the gold/silver is like the difference between grants and jonny, only your working from a better starting point and the price difference is minimal. only problem being I dont see it at many bottleos

Well I am a scotch and cognac drinker, so I'll tell you which scotches I have found to be very nice. Firstly, Red label, Teachers and Jamesons is really only good for mixing, although jamesons redeems itself.... just.

For taste, I much prefer Glenfiddich 12 year old although their 18 year old is very nice too. Black label is a blend and not pure malt although is palatable especially with soda water and ice on a hot day. I was given a gift pack of Johnnie walker once that had black, green, gold and blue. I found the gold to be nicer than the blue even though it is less expensive, and the green to be the best of the lot as it is pure malt. Blue I found to be overly complex and not really enjoyable at all.
Whilst this may sound like an amateurish statement I believe I possess a refined enough palate to know the difference between Courvoisier and Cola.

Blue label has a very alcoholic taste to it; it is ever present and offensive to the palate, whilst simultaneously leaving a very ill refined taste in your mouth. For those who cannot afford to try it, you should get some red label and add some methylated spirits; it leaves that kind of taste. It is reasonably nice, but not any better value than an aged single malt. I feel blue is probably the most profitable scotch on the market, especially since so many think so highly of it. I would proffer though that I think some people generally believe that because it is the most expensive of the scotches available at the bottle shop; it must be the best.

Some of the best single malts are not that expensive. Your humble Glenfiddich is unbeatable at the price for the taste, black label is fairly good, chivas is quite good as well, Glenlivet is particulalry good. If you can you should then move onto the 18 year olds, then try some of the older 20-24 year olds.

One scotch though that is brilliant is Glen Ord. It is double malt and defines all that is great about scotch. It gives you a kind of radiant heat and sits extremely well. A little bit hard to source though, yet not ridiculously expensive.
