Probably the worst thing for you is going to be a conviction recorded against you. Did you have a conviction recorded against you?? This can close many doors later on in life.

It is not un common for the police to embelish their story. It can seem that they do it on purpose, but many times it is just memory phase. They get events, people, times etc mixed up. So it is much easier to make you sound like a real bad egg to ensure they get their conviction. It does not look good for a blue public servant to drag someone into court only to have the judge/magistrate dismiss the case. I have heard this straight from a members mouth. It is the human factor in our court/justice system that is here to stay. That is why, if there is ever any video or other sort of evidence, in your case, obtain it. Especially if you are not convinced you are being treated fairly.

No, I dont believe so. I left court with a good behaviour bond and a letter about having to start a payment plan with my fines within 28 days.
As far as I know they need to fingerprint me to have a criminal record? And my prints are still only in a single place - on my fingers

I too was more worried about a criminal record than fines or points (and yes, to the other member who posted, I do still have my licence with one point remaining, but I'm able to move onto green Ps whenever I like, and I'll be back to 4 (The same as red Ps))

The cops do embelish the stories quite a bit. I think they do it because the defendent (ie you) is likely to tell a version of events that is far far more 'tame' than what actually happened to the magistrate, so they embellish their story, and the magistrate evens them out and hopefully it ends up being a lot closer to the truth, so you get a more accurate penalty.

There are 3 sides to every story...yours, mine, and the truth!

WTF! I'm so sick of people trying to make decisions for others! If some of us want to talk about this subject, who the ***** are you to decide otherwise?

So far there is no swearing (apart from this spittle-flecked post) no name calling, no real problems,

FFS guys, the guy has come on here, admitted he did the wrong thing and has filled us in with the details, whats not to understand?

As for the "Close it now" calls... Get a life, if your not interisted ,then don't read it, for once it's a thread that isn't a police bash and is showing the consequences of doing the wrong thing.

Exactly - we've all heard about the hoon laws and what they should mean to people who bag 'em up, here is an example of the laws in action.

I wouldn't mind hearing about other people's experiences in court for these types of offences.

I agree lighten up, you friggen hipocrites!

The guy has admitted to his mistakes. At least he can admit it. As has been said, you've all done it at some stage, he just got caught. Paid a pretty big price for it too. You were lucky you could get your car out of impound, would of spewed having to cough up all the money to have it in someone elses property.

this means you have been convicted and therefore some doors are now closed, or harder to enter now. Go for a job that requires a security clearance and you will need to declare these convictions which may mean the clearance getting declined.

Exactly! I don't want to be on the roads with dope heads!! I can't believe that people are so stupid that they continue to take illegal substances when they know the effects. You sir, got what you deserved. If I was the lawmaker, I wouldn't care if you had a speck of the stuff on you: it is illegal: deal with it!!!

Really? So this could mean no taxi jobs? Bus drivering etc etc? What about truck driving or something like that? Or are these still all open for me?

I think it's a dumb rule... Like, fair enough if it was something a little more serious, but my gosh, this is almost harmless...

I'll have to go to the police station and ask them...

Roughly (if anyone knows) could you tell me what type of industrys and jobs this has an effect on?

I can't believe this is all 1 month after my 18th birthday! Damnit! lol.

Anyway, cheers guys.

pretty much well anything to do with law, or legal stuff. just think.....what needs a good role model, someone who has never done a bad thing (hasnt been caught doing their bad thing).

these are the kinds of jobs you may as well give up looking at. unfortunately, doing one illegal thing will result in real bad consequences (if your after a government job) as.....i dont know why....

good to see everyone handling this in a grown up mature way, being able to see both sides of the story, and just take away from this what the thread was intended for.... :togo:

my 2 cents.

it was on my conviction record
it can afect your future , you can apply to get it struck off after i think 15 years - may be 10
for what i was applying for , it didnt bother them
the fact is you have a record but pending on what jobs you apply for it may/may not affect

We were all young and stupid once so not judging you...BUT:

Why would you come on here and essentially post to the entire world about the fact you have just been convicted of drug use and driving offences in a court of law AND then post where you live (a small town) AND where you work. Not hard to figure out who you are - people don't like employing dope heads, your'e just flushing away your reputation IMO.

PS - I have way too much respect for the mechanical sympathy of my car to do a burnout in it - directed at whoever was claiming we are all car enthusiasts so we all do this...
