I was close with my 69 point prediction the Cats would win by. Sure, there were some poor decision paid to Geelong, but there was also some pretty bad decisions paid to Collingwood which resulted in goals for them. At the end of the day, unlike the Saints v Dogs game, the poor umpiring decisions had no bearing on the result. But it's certainly worrying that they still can't get it right.

The guns were looking in peak shape. Looked great. Two best teams to fight it out next week. Go the Cats (ford sponsorship)

i HATE when people say umpiring has no bearing on result... a bad decision/missed decision leading to a goal can completely switch the momentum of a game. collingwood were right in it until the end of the 3rd quarter... the last quarter was just a blowout
the umpiring, as a non partial observer, was a disgrace in the dogs match as well my god some of these players are a protected species, reiwoldt and ablett with the whole geelong side coming in a close second if reiwoldt goes anywhere near the ball it is a free kick somehow... what about that ****y little bump that lake laid on him??? it wasnt even a hard bump and he went oh so slowly crashing into the turf. the AFL has come out and said well that is the rules... but have the umpires paid it all year? their interpretation of the rules should be the same through the final series as it has been all year, failing that they can AT LEAST be consistent, which they have not honestly this game is going down the toilet, i want to watch a game and see two teams have a red hot go rather than a game dictated by umpiring decision. a lot of people throw the netball tag around but honestly, it couldnt be more true

P.S...... the dogs and pies could have both easily won their matches, the dogs missed several goals they should have kicked and collingwood played some dead set stupid football while remaining competetive for a half. both teams had their chances.

on the up side, in the not too recent past cats and saint bowed out in prelims, the cats went on to win a gf, apeared in one and another now, saints first granny since the late 90s.
if this is anything to go by, dogs and pies should make the granny within the next couple years. Last edited by Teflon Turbo; 20-09-2009 at 06:53 PM. Reason: Typos! |

Saw a great game today though...CENTRAL DISTRICTS into their 10th straight SANFL GF WOOHOO!!! And going for a record 8th win in a decade. Played the Bays today after a tight struggle last week, Bays had last week off and were out by 26 in 3rd qtr but the Dogs came home to win by 2pts. Bays play double blues nxt week for remaining spot in GF. |

Well personally we will be supporting the Saints.
Only 1 cup and that was I believe 66? I think it would have been perfect if it could have been Saints and Doggies in final as they both only have 1 premiership each but oh well....... |

The pies got a lot of the ball last night in the first half, only to do nothing with it. Mistakes everywhere. They missed so many opportunities especially when Geelong were only 2 goals up, but once they got a few goals up that was it.
I guess it means I'll be going for the saints next week. I don't really like them but hate geelong more. I have a feeling though that the cats are playing the better footy at the moment. |

you are too right, i found myself marvelling over the collingwood team when the national anthem was played, nearly ever player had gotten into the side in the last 2-3 years, they are a very very young side and to get as far as they did was pretty satisfying the dogs also have a young developing team and are only going to get better in the next few years (and i hope they keep aker on, hes a champ... or trade him to collingwood :P) but where was didak, davis and some of the other bigger names? they had a very poor finals series, we sorely missed pendlebury the finals series has really brought out steele sidebottom and macaffer sorry i am starting to rave! bring on next year!

Really was a case of men against boys in reference to the cats vs pies match. Collingwood are still very raw, lots of kids thats can run like the wind but can also get knocked out by a slight breeze.
Showed Brad dick standing next to Paul Chapman, looked like Hulk hogan standing next to a ballerina in body shape. In saying all that...CARN THE CATTERS!! |

When ablett took his dive and took Harry with him
he got the free Harry argued with the umpire and the umpire was clearly heard to say "dont worry about it" he just gave Geelong a goal for nothing and he says dont worry about it its about time the umpire let us watch the players, and not the pretensious, looking for attention umpires a good umpire is one that goes un noticed

fair call arch
stattic, you are right too mate the went missing but maybe we peaked too early and or couldn't maintain that level, with a young side there is an eliment of unpredictabilty sometime it works for you like against the crows and other times it works againts you like with the cats. ah well such is life, at least it's an all vic granny. |

Well the two teams that have played the best all year are in so thats good. St Kilda deserve to be in the GF, but not after their performance in the last game, that was horrid.
As a saints supporter I have grown up with them having the talent and never finishing it off, god I hope we lift for next week. In a way I am glad it wasn't an easy win, a wake up call perhaps? But Geelong is my "back up", only because of Ford. Should be a cracker!
