Lisa, your rear skirt is not a Sprint one, it looks the same as Bdennis'.
Where are your sidskirts?

I used to have 4/5 of the Sprint kit on my car, but mine had the standard XR front(little) lip.
Most of the Xr's i have seen with the kit are set up the same way, with the stock front lip and the rest of the Sprint skirts.
BD good luck in your search.

OK I have some updates from Ford and other info from posts etc.

I have found that BOTH the Front and Rear skirts on my car and not the TVE "Sprint Body Kit" (We all knew that though...haha : )
The side skirts are correct.

I have also found from Ford that the TVE Sprint Kit is option 2G on the options list.
My car did not leave the Factory with a Optional Sprint kit (2G). Ford could not confirm if it was available for the ED XR8 Sprint but did confirm that it was a available option on the Std ED XR8.

Given that a ED XR8 Sprint is actually a ED XR8 with the 3C option (more on this in a sec) then is is fairly safe to assume that the ED XR8 Sprint could have been optioned with the Option 2G - Sprint Body Kit from TVE fro the factory.

The 3C Option listed on my options list is what makes a std ED XR8 and Sprint. This is the option that specifies the Sprint parts such as Engine, Trim, Suspension, Gearbox etc etc. So Every ED XR8 Sprint will have Option 3C on the options list and the engine code of T.

So in short. My car did not come from Ford with the TVE body kit. However, this could have been added at the dealer and therefore is not listed on the list from Ford as could have bene done post delivery. (may try and investiage this as was sold in Young NSW in '94)

I am now thinking of removing the body kit from the car and selling the kit complete (although the front bar has scrape marks and some Fibreglass damage underneth)
I will list it for sale in the For sale section If I choose to go down that track...

So there you have it.. Investigation completed..

Thanks for your help... :

Lisa,
Do you have any more pics of yours with the rear skirt on it?

I have been doing some more research and am a bit confused.

Does the rear skirt come in 2 or 3 pieces? Does the rear skirt recess for the tow bar per this pic? (or is the recess just a shadow?)

Or this one. it does not have a recess.

Or are there 2 different middle sections from ford. 1 for a car with Towbar fitted and one for not fitted.

Also re the front bar. Is there a join in the middle? and is there a square piece that coves the join?

Also, are the factory ones plastic or fibreglass?
If so how are thye fitted? My side skirts are riveted on in a number of places.

More info would be appreciated.

I'll have a look at mine in the morning and post it up, as for the rear bar, mine has a recess below the tow bar. And i think from memory my skirts are screwed in but like i said i'll have a look in the morning.

Brendan, the rear bar on the white EB in the picture is a Sprint bar, it came as a 2 piece skirt with a join on the left The recess is for the towbar correct.
The front bib came as two bits, that slid together.

All the Factory bits, EG Sprint kit, EDXR front grill, where injection moulded fiberglass. this made them stronger.

Here is a few pics of my rocket a few years ago.
The skirts are Sprint aswell, as is the Bootlid spoiler.
The Front bib is standard XR and are very rare in good condition.

This was a very common combination on alot of XR's as people didnt like the big Sticky outy front lip of the Sprint kit.

PS the pics arnt the best but camera tech was pretty crap in 2000.

Heya, I was just detailing my car and i thought i would check my compliance plate and was shocked to find 2G on there, so there you go provided no one has changed it, that is the so called sprint kit, i'm gonna post some more pics up that show the kit better than the last pics i had. And mine is an eb1 xr8 with this option, before tickford came onboard with ford. Interesting.........

Benny Mac,
Id hate to burst your bubble... Factory options are not shown on the compliance plate of the car. (there is a slight exception to this in the AU series where Tickford added a plate to the drivers side shocker tower to show the items they added...) The numbers you see are references to ADR compliance, so all EB's will have 2G on it.. The only way to find out what options it left the factory with is to contact ford and ask for the info.

Post up some pics of your car so we can see what you have..

Default Update on body kit.

OK guys and gals..
I know I am being ainal about this.. but..
I fonud a nice looking black EB Fairmont Ghia near home that has a factory body kit installed (as stated by the owner when I knocked on the door to ask..!)

I can now confirm the following:
The factory kit is plastic not fibre glass.
The front skirt is in 2 pieces
The side skirts are in 2 pieces (per side)
The rear skirt is in 3 pieces and there is a recess where the tow bar goes in.
The side and rear skirts are held on by screws not rivets. The front skirt is held on by plastic screw thingies..

Here are a few pics. (enjoy!)
The specimin

Front skirt centre

Front mount points

Side skirt middle

Rear skirt exhaust side

Rear skirt centre

Rear skirt pass side

Rear side / spoiler

So there ya have it. That is a Genuine Factory sprint / tickford body kit.

I am now planing on removing the body kit from my car as none of it is the factory kit and all after market.

Yep sure is, I rang up ford with my ED XR6 details and they said that the sprint kit I have on mine was fitted factory optioned. It's plastic not fibreglass same as the one above exactly, and has the rubber sprint wing aswell. But my side skirts are all one piece.

Ford Chick.
Hmm interesting. The car above is a EB perhaps the ED side skirt is 1 piece. Is it held on with screws or rivets?
The ED brochure shows the side skirt is 2 piece...
But then again the Ford brochures are known to be wrong..!
(ie. ED sprint brochure with a Cleveland V8 and also with 5000rpm tacho when it is 5,500rpm)

Yeh it's held on with screws. I actually have them off the car at the moment, and looked to see if someone had joined the two pieces, but nope it's all one piece of plastic. Maybe there was two different side skirts like you said.

It's March 94. Getting a respray soon with the same blue/purple colour but with a shimmer put through. So I pulled the kit off so underneath could be painted. I've also got a boot with the lip spoiler going to be done in the same colour, but tossing up which boot I should put on.

Haha, whoops, i cant help but feel a little embarrassed about that. Any ways, i have the one piece skirt, and all are held on by screws like that black eb before.
Look in here for some more detailed photos, plus the car looks much cleaner in these photos aswell;)

Brendin, the early Sprint kits had 2 piece side skirts.
Mine are factory and they are 1 piece.

Mine where also an injected molded plastic/fiberglass.

Cool thanks for the info. I thought they must have changed at some point!..

The EB one was definately plastic as it has a crack in it where it enters the wheel arch..
