Nice thought although you'd need to be content losing 30 or 40k in the first 12 months in that scenario.

When I bought my Sprint 6 in Sept 2016 I could have bought an XR8 for $49,990 drive away brand new. My dealer had about 7 of them left and just wanted to clear them, a few were 2015 plates that had just been sitting still because everyone was looking for a Sprint.

Interesting comments about the value of a second hand FG X XR8. Last July, I renewed my insurance, choosing to go with Shannons becaise of the low premium, associated with the low kms I now travel in mine.
During the renewal process, I negotiated with them on the agreed value for my car. My car had around 55000km on it at the time. I had a hard time getting them to move much on the agreed value, eventually ending up at $48k. One reference i used was carsales which showed that similar km cars were asking a little more than Shannons' original offer. We eventually agreed on the $48k, but only after I mentioned that my car had a sunroof fitted. If the (reasonable) carsales advertised prices are in the ballpark of the sale price, I think there's room for my agreed value to be raised a bit come renewal time. The reason I saw the ad I posted was because I sample the market value occasionally, and I have noted that the second hand asking prices have certainly increased over the last couple of years, and that includes a corresponding increase in odometer readings, too. I bought my XR8 in early 2015 and probably paid a premium wanting it at the height of the interest in them. I was comfortable with what I paid (just over $60k driveaway including sunroof, IIRC) and am still happy with what I paid now. $10k over the life of the car is nothing. And considering that I could now get around $50k for it after 5 years and near on 60000km on the clock, I think it's holding it's value rather well.

I saw many prior to Sprint $52k ++ and abouts, that was its market pricing. https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-new...es-price-29720 In fairness FGXXR8 is a golden buy when at new, even I went back and forth, do i or don't i pay more for the Sprint BUT the LE won me over and in hindsight whats not to say the FGXXR8 isn't LE anyway, its not like they made or sold in the triple figures of old days. Good luck to you XR8 owners, I reckon they are gold in any case.

I was down at the mazda dealer for the wife this morn and obviously I wanted to have a walk around the Ford dealer across the road. I was rapted to see a Gold FGXXR6T and look what their asking and k's : Vehicle 2015 Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo FG X Auto Price $49,888* Kilometers 61,638 Colour Gold OK say they accept not less than $45k more like $47-48k. heading towards a 6yr old Falcon, normally would have been wayway less selling price back in the usual days re depreciation.

I see FG xr6 turbos are going up in price too! My Dad has a perfect one (think its a 2009 ) with 70,000 km on it (silver leather. 19s) and the dealer recently said lock that away, values are going up. We thought it would be worth about 20, but looks like its a good 30 and heading up. I told him, make sure you keep that one, probably be worth more than his 2 year old Mustang in a couple of years!

The troll schtick is growing pretty old Hulk. Do you contribute anything of value to this forum beyond trolling for bait?

It's not just the high-performance Falcon's holding value.
XR6's are holding pretty strong too. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...9523916/?Cr=10 Once upon a time, a five year old Falcon would have been valued below 20K!

As for the $90k FGX of this post, Yes its overpriced, we all know that, but all it takes is 1 cashed up enthusiast... They obviously aren’t in a hurry to sell it at the moment, and if they ever got desperate they could bring it down $30k and they would probably be beating them away with a stick.,,..

Yes Hulk, driving a car as a daily would rack up the km.
My post that you quoted stated that "If I had $90K laying around". And, if I did, I would be in a position where I wouldn't give a stuff about depreciation or whether some DP thought I was a sucker. Go troll someone else.

They had the life span of any other Falcon. Around ten years, with a decent upgrade in the middle.

Be it a FGX but lets add in XSeries pricing to this day @ $50k rust buckets to start off with your train of thought, why would you choose a 6yr old FGX amongst all other cars @ $90k or abouts..... Thats what people want and do, your not to question or belittle a persons decision what there willing to pay be it 6yrs old or whatever. Your a perrenial troll that just keeps giving here tbh and one has to wonder why you keep coming back after all the negative response you get. I get kicks are for kicks BUT I guess your a really lonely person in the big picture for with an attitude like yours would drive any friend you may have had away...... Peace out shaking my head.

That way potential buyer can take it on a 10km test drive, buy it, and then drive it 2km away from my house before it instantly blows up the moment it turns over 150000km. |

Most cars depreciate, buy you only have to look at what happened to F250s when they stopped getting converted in the 2000's. There are exceptions based on a number of factors.

Can mods please delete my previous post- made when I was a bit prickly yesterday when I was feeling crook and snapped and made inappropriate comments including analogies to religion.
Thanks

I thought it quite to-the-point, and merited - particularly in my not understanding the Internet practice of banning characters rather than the person who returns relentlessly to poison the water. Glad the judiciary don’t do this.

So how do I go about following your rule and buy any GT Falcon circa 1960's-70's...let alone a HO... My rule is "all rules have exceptions and if you're not flexible you snap...." |
