Obviously it wasn't a winner but you would think with the way Lipton iced tea is selling, perhaps it's time is now

I was devastated when I heard this....I love cordial. We drink it every night with dinner. Must admit it is not Cottees. If they lowered there prices maybe I would buy it.

Reading the story online though, it sounded like a big push to boost sales!

Cheers
Col

Well its obvious why there going bank rupt. Its ever since they changed there mix from the larger bottle into the smaller bottle. It became more of a chemical tasting drink and it tastes like ****. 10 years ago everyone was drinking it but the double concentrate etc they just shot themselves in the foot. Companies just don't learn, why change something that's great and cheap out to make a ****ter product for higher profits. I use to love cordial but for the past few years I drink less and less because who wants to drink something that makes your mouth tingle with the awful tasting chemical sensations.

I won't miss it at all if it does go. If I am going to put 30 to 60 grams of refined white sugar in to my body, with absolutely no fibre or nutrition whatsoever, bring on a nice chocolate bar or slice of cake...or even better a vanilla slice or cannoli... not a syrupy, sickly drink. The colourings in those drinks are so vivid and artificial they are reminiscent of neon lights, and there is an odd smell that permeates even after washing the plastic bottles out. If you want a refreshing, healthy and delicious drink, grab a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice (with pulp), or make a fruit mix with one of those nutri ninja/bullet things.

Golden circle fruit cup crush. That was my first love as a 90's child. Do they still make it. Might have to get some brought over to the states

Just to clarify the "more sugar than soft drink" suggestion, here's the facts direct from the respective manufacturers websites:

Cottees No added sugar Lemon Crush:

Sugar per 100ml (referring to diluted cordial when made up as directed): 0.2g

Cottees Classic Range Lemon Crush:

Sugar per 100ml (referring to diluted cordial when made up as directed): 5.2g

Coca Cola:

Sugar per 100ml: 10.6g

Lift:

Sugar per 100ml: 11.0g

So comparing the Cottees original to Coca Cola, it is around half the sugar content. And that is if you mix at as per Cotteees ratio: I find that I mix it at a much lower ratio, so the sugar content would be even lower.

Certainly not as good as water (obviously) but still much better to have cordial than soft drink!

Also, for those suggesting flavoured water, they generally contain more sugars than most credit them for:

Pump Lemon Fix:

Sugars per 100ml: 2.2g

And here's ice tea:

Nestea Ice Tea Lemon Lime:

Sugars per 100ml: 6.1g

Cordial actually doesn't look too bad considering.......

True, but if you've ever watched a 7 year old make up cordial, theyre getting a hell of a lot more sugar than that!

This is a worry.

That means a standard 250ml drink has 13g of sugar, or 2½ teaspoons. Ouch.
