Has anyone had experience buying car parts from kogan? I noticed a few of there prices seem to be decent.

Kogan is now a market place (like catch, ebay, Amazon etc). A lot of stuff on the Kogan site will be listings from individual businesses who will supply and ship the product so the overall 'buying experience' will be dependant on who is actually selling the product.

You'll see sold by xxx somewhere on the listing if it is a third party listing. I think Kogan handle the customer service side and payments so if something goes wrong I imagine they'll side with the buyer to get it sorted.

According to Choice Mag if anything goes wrong you'll find it very very hard claiming any kind of warranty.

I bought an Intel PC Stick computer from Kogan. Dead on arrival. I was told to speak with Intel directly, Kogan was done with me. Intel asked me to check a few things, then sent me a pre-paid bag to send back the device - and I got one back from them that worked.

Happy story then, I've even posted a picture of that new stick PC in a thread here, something to do with an FG2 ICC... Except for the obvious problem, you may not be dealing with a company like Intel who will do things properly.

Edit: This one was the replacement!

You shouldn't have to deal with another company. Aust consumer law says that if it's broke you return it to the place you bought it from.

Sounds like normal Kogan customer service though

They also use Allied Express as their courier service who are absolutely useless. I bought a new tv for my parents to replace theirs that is on it's last legs.
Expected delivery date according to their own tracking was 3/2. It's still sitting in their "football field size" warehouse in Rocklea. Hasn't moved since it arrived.

After spending 35 minutes on hold today, they tell me they can't give me any information about when it will get here, because they don't know. But eventually I'll get a text message to let me know it's moving. Sent emails last week, and have had no response.

Kogan don't care. They just parroted back the "It was dispatched from our warehouse, and is now in transit, but may be delayed a few days."

Also they just got fined for pulling the oldest trick in the book

Quote:
A tax time promotion by retail giant Kogan that promised 10% discounts but saw some customers end up paying more for their products has now cost the company $350,000.

The retailer was found to have deceived and misled customers in mid-2018 with an end of financial year promotion offering a 10% discount on some products between 27 and 30 June with the code “taxtime” at checkout.

The federal court, following an investigation by the consumer watchdog, found Kogan had increased its prices ahead of the promotion and then reduced them again on 2 July. It ordered Kogan to pay a penalty of $350,000, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) said on Monday.

The ACCC chairman, Rod Sims, said the price reductions weren’t genuine savings and many customers who bought one of the 600 or more products actually paid the same or more for their items than they would have immediately before or after the promotion.

They also got done recently for dodgy email practices...

I wouldn't buy from them. Bought a 'new' phone that turned out to be refurbished and then when it developed an internal burn mark on the screen my only option was to send it to Melbourne for inspection.

If they deemed it a warranty job they would repair or replace.

If they deemed it anything else I was up for postage both ways as well as $90 technician fee. Whole process could also take a month.

Yeah.. Nah....

For spamming...a few years ago they bought out the Dick Smith brand and took it online-only after the stores went into administration/receivership...I used to by some thing from DS they must have had my email, subsequently I get spammed from Kogan and another online business they own regardless of hitting "Unsubscribe".

O/T ..last week I dropped my iPhone 11 which I bought 5 months ago under a Telstra business contract and cracked the screen and the face recognition module. After-market replacement screen was around $400, decided to go to Apple and was offered a brand new phone for the cost of a screen replacement, about $500...couldn't be happier considering I had about 18months to go on the plan.

if you buy from Ebay, you dont return items to Ebay..

Ive had my share of issue with Kogan though.

purchased computer monitors on special only to be told later they don't actually have stock.
being billed for their Kogan First service without ever agreeing.

bought a cement mixer, the one pictured was Black but it arrived canary yellow! (seriously that one didn't bother me but thought it was funny)

I can honestly say that I have never bought anything from Ebay.

I have however bought quite a bit from people ON Ebay.

Ive purchased from ebay, Ali express & Kogan.

Ive had returns & refunds processed through Ebay and Ali express. they will support the Buyer, just like our consumer rights states.
I haven't done a return through Kogan but I would imagine they would have the same procedures.

PS I also get Kogan emails everyday despite attempts to stop it

Kogan is a waste of time. I have bought phones and computers from them and if it's any with thier name on it and you have issues they will not help.

I will consider buying name brand stuff from them though as sometimes the prices are better and you can just bypass Kogan customer disservice all together
