Sorry forgot to mention that I’m still on sync 3.3, so it doesn’t seem to be an issue with the update. Did a bit of googling and seems that it’s a bit of a common problem and Ford are aware

Bear in mind that a message does pop up to say that some features may not be immediately available. It took a couple of hours before my maps came back on. Perhaps this is the same for speakers? It's all software in the end and if the system is still sorting itself out, then it stands to reason the Sound features might also take a while to come back up.

My gripe with this update is that it appears nothing has changed other than fancy new graphics. Some might not be too happy with the rather less contrast screens.

Does anyone have any idea what 3.4 has over 3.3? If it's only the new GUI, then it seems stupid for Ford to push this update onto users. And there's nowhere on Ford's website that says what the update contains. So it would be great to hear from someone who does.

So the problem has been known to Ford, but they haven't fixed it, just gave a new face, to Sync 3.4 which is quite bad, to be honest.

This is not good enough, they have had enough time to sort this out.

No wonder they removed a few of the Focus car from the Australian range.

Wonder what else they know about and haven't told us.

They can replace the car under ACCC laws, if they cant fix it

Fixed what? My maps returned two hours after the update. Bear in mind that some features may not be available immediately after an update and this is stated on-screen. If everything is now running for you now, there is no problem.

Apparently this loss of audio and functionality is or has been occurring for some time. It is very random but happens. Audio loss appears main issue

Yes, it’s fine now all works

It has been known to fail 2 hours after it works, so it’s very spasmodic
I am going to go to the selling dealer and get it on the service record

Update, I have had the car to the dealer, they re-flashed Sync 3.4, same version number, and also changed the door speaker. They did comment a known problem resulting in loss of sound across vehicle. I was told to switch off the car, lock the doors, wait 5 minutes, the unlock. Apparently this resets the car. And when it happened last time, i had the reverse tone go "squeaky", a very different tone. At this point all good, see how we go..

Well the issue is back again. They did replace the speaker in the door, but just went screechy sound about an hour an go. It played up with reverse pilot distance tone went off, then no sound front drivers quarter (door panel and tweeter silenced). So much for the fix
