OK guys and girls this is not a car thread but important to me. My Granddad left if for me.
I have a top quality slate Billiard table with all the extras. (was inspected and 6 guys required to remove........) Currently has VERY faded green with ridges as barely used, wood is spot on etc. Can retrim in green or go in modern royal blue (looks sweet but not traditional green) Ok you cool Ford pack, tell me what colour you'd do?! |

As above, green is traditional and being a bit of an heirloom keep it original.

Pick the colour that goes with the house & furnishings.
Traditional would have looked out of place in my house so I finished up picking blue cloth with black timber. Same for the light fittings above it, I went chrome 50W downlights on a track instead of the traditional old style lights. If you're getting new pocket nets then pay the extra & get good ones the cheap ones sag and look like used condoms if balls are left in them. Talk to the guy. |

How big and how many slates is it?
My old man was a snooker tragic from the UK and when I was a kid in Whyalla back in the 70s' he built a garage, then had steel I beams leveled and embedded in the concrete floor and had it insulated and set up as a bar room just so he could have somewhere to put the mint antique English 6' x 12' 4 slate snooker table. I remember he got Ray Reardon and Eddie Charlton to come and play the table after an exhibition match. Unless you're a snooker tragic or grew up in the 50s' and 60s' you probably just said .."who?" lol.

4 FOOT by 8 foot single slate table would be a bitch to lift and shift. Are you sure it's not a standard pool table size of 7'x 3"6". I only ask because I used to recover the odd pool and snooker table with my old man back in the day and I've never seen a 8'x4'. I've seen 10'x5' but that was multi slate where as a pool table is a single slate.
I don't recommend doing the recover yourself though unless you are a bit handy with upholstery work AND get some tips from someone who knows what they are doing, especially with the cushions.

I would stuff it up completely!! Definitely getting it professionally done. It's not worth as much as I was told but who cares, i love it and it deserves to be brought back to A1 condition. |
