Hello Everyone,

Any instructions on how to remove the boot off a 2000 Cougar?

Thanks,

Default Re: Cougar - How to remove boot lid?

It's not overly simple.

Open the hatch.
Remove the package tray.
Remove the driver's side holder for the package tray.
Remove the driver side C-Pillar trim.

Remove the driver side rear quarter panel trim - there are instruction on how to do this in our Technical Portal.

Remove the three plugs that hold up the rear of the headlining.

Use a small screwdriver to pop out the wiring harness plug from the roof. Trace the wiring down to the inside of the quarter panel and unplug it, then feed it back out. The wiring will come out with the hatch when you remove it.

Have someone hold up the hatch and remove the support struts from the hatch by removing the clip with a small screwdriver.

Pull the headlining down and remove the four 10mm nuts that hold the hatch liftgate on. Note: The liftgate is heavy and will require two people to remove.

Cheers
Russ
