Interesting experience with a thief today

My car was parked up from my place today. I noticed a young kid,maybe 15yo. By the time he realised i was behind him, his *** was mine. He settled pretty quick and did what i said. I figured that he scratched my tint with the slide bar thing, i deserve something back so i jammed him fingers in window and wound it up tight, he didn't know what i was going to do.

Anyway it turns out he was told to take the car for the wheels.

I actually felt sorry for him. We spoke for a while and he ended up saying that most of his lot don't listen for a noise to indicate the door is unlocked, they watch for the door button to come up. He told me to disconnect the "button up" bar. That way if a thief thinks like his lot, they won't even enter the car.

i threatened him that if i saw him in my area again, he won't walk away then proceeded to take me door trim off and disconnect the "button up " thing.

Just thought i'd let you know how some of the young ones think.

mate, jamming his finger would be the least id do to him...... thank god both my xfs have imobilisers and really loud alarms....they even p*ss me off lol thank for the info tho

Sorry, i used his term. The linkage that connects the door button to the mechanism that raises the button when you unlock the car.

The only inconveniance is that the wife will have to lock the car with the keypad when she gets in, rather than just pushing the button down.

In your moment of touchy feely did you explain to him how many hours of hard labour went into the purchase of said vehicle and how would he feel. I think maybe it would have been a diferent type of touchy feely had he been starting it up about to drive off.

I did actually. It wasn't a "touchy feely " situation. He wasn't made to feel comfy. I'm over 6ft and weigh 134 kg, he was scared.

It was a peer pressure thing, as well as naive,stupid and disrespectful. I don't know if he will do it again but he will at least think b4 he does.

umm, the button gimmick. forget it, its crap. think about it. A thief would be really dumb (no,... dumber than a thief) if he couldnt hear the doors unlock. And the slide thingy, took tint off, from the outside, between the door rubber and glass.

What car is it? My EL has a button to lock the doors on the dash as well as the button on the door. Or have they ditched that?

I caught one once spraying the side of a car with a can of spray paint. I grabbed him and sprayed the word c--- across his jacket and then asked him how it felt to have HIS property vandalised. Then booted him up the backside and let him go.

You're so calm and controlled.... I think a lot of us would have lost it. Why didn't you call the cops? You might've gotten to the root cause and got the other bastards who are part of the scheme too.

He's probably altered your lock to make it easier for him to break in next time!

You let him walk off?? WTF were you thinking...u stated he said "his boys" meaning there is a group of theives banded together.. Also he was TOLD to get the car for the rims/tyres...i say still expect your car to go missing..ALSO i hope you feel the guilt knowing you let a little scumbag theif get of scot free and knowing that there is a band of car theifs which seem to have a bit of organisation between them...well they obviously researched ur car for the rims... you get what i saying.. A lot more car thefts could be negated due to him and his little mates being busted by the cops for the organised stealing of cars.
I woulda went to town on the little turd with a tyre lever, another good reason why i carry 2 finger brass knucks 24/7.
However your timing was magical, at its best, 2 minutes later and good bye car, very lucky indeed.

funny i read this...

I own an AU ute, and today, i as i go to fill her up with petrol, i notice some low life * insert explicit words here * stole my petrol cap, i have no idea how much they are, but i cant imagine they are alot..

it makes me so angry someone touched my car let alone helped themselves to somethign off it.

i look after my ute, and its happened either last night or today at work, its the smallest item, and it still has me worked up.

if anyoen knows how i can stop them from taking it, ie get one with a key lock or something on it that would be tops.

if im this angry now... i would hate to imagine what would happen if i caught them in the act... being a 130kg rugby player probably means i would end up in jail on assault charges whilst he walks free..... lucky i didnt catch them then i spose.

I agree with rapidxr6 you should have called the cops, by letting the little bastard go you just let him know when you get busted there is a change if you ACT remorsefull you might be set free to offened again maybe in the theift of one of our cars. Also the police could have gotten info on his "boys" and stopped alot more car theifs in your and maybe other areas, next time i suggest you call the police thats what we pay them for......

Dont feel sorry for this scumbag, he is just a crook and has made the decision to steal your car for its wheels for his own gain. He knows it is wrong and thus should cop whatever is coming. Though because of his age he wont get much.

Put an alarm on it straight away.
I would have called the cops or broken his knee cap with a tyre lever depending on how i felt at the time.

maybe u did the right thing, sometimes compasion will change a young kids way off thinking.Being aggressive is only going to make him angry an want revenge.Wouldve been fun to drive off tho..

A month ago i was walking my dog and i saw a kid that was in front of us walk into someones yard and lean into a car.He grabbed cds so i yelled out and he started running so i let Shelby of an she slammed him to the ground right on the road(then she licked him) Ifelt bad 4 scaring the crap out off him but made him return the cds to the house.

Sory theres more...end off last year i was parking the ute and trailor at the hardware it was 10 in the morning and two guys approched me as i got out off the car.Spinning some homeless story they asked 4 some money 4 a hotdog...I even showed them i had no cash on me just a card an keys.One guy started walking off and all off a sudden grabbed me from behind..i put an elbow in his throat an he dropped while the other guy punched me in the shoulder.I leant back..jabbed at his gut an swung a big right hander at his face...smashed his nose,sliced his cheek open an layed him out cold. Apparently cars had been goin missing there for a while so i was pretty lucky.Crazy seeing as it happened in broad daylight with people everywhere!

i can see why he didnt smash him up or dob him in.... today most brat kids or thiefs will come back with mates and 1. Damage said vehicle 2. damage your house 3. harrass kids,girlfriends,wives,pets 4. try to steal said vehicle again.... what u did was good u might have saved yourself more suffering and misery
