Reminds me of all the trouble I had when they switched over to those new secure key things for the Business Portal to lodge the BAS. Hours wasted of trying different browsers, making phone calls to the ATO and emailing with their tech support.

It seems as though the abortion that is mGov/myTax is still a piece of poo:

Do the bottom clowns in charge of the myGov portal live on another planet? They must be neighbours with Comical Ali:

welcome to the world of cheap fixed price IT solutions(not saying this one is, sounds like it though).....Ive spent half my career fixing dodginess. You will be surprised how many places skimp on proper stress & volume, performance testing....proper design patterns, efficient code etc etc then when solutions go live things fall apart...and they wonder why...
*EDIT just read that article...shambles

Yes, JGP. I worked in a place where they brought in an expert for half a day and he was paid about $10,000 just for that one half-day's work (he studied our system docs first before coming in) to make sure our websites could handle the days when server loads go crazy.

I used MyTax through the MyGov portal a few weeks back to do my tax and it was a breeze, done and lodged in 10 minutes and it's already in the bank.

The only problem I had with MyTax is when I tried to lodge it gave me an error. It was not immediately obvious but I had not filled in my occupation. I had a few beers so maybe it did tell I had to fill it in

Easily corrected and was settled well within the processing time frame. Less than 5 minutes and that was me double checking with my bank accounts and payment summary.

eTax is overly complicated for most people which is why MyTax exists (apart from technology considerations) but will eventually evolve to include more complicated returns.

I'm looking forward to push returns where they just pay it to me or tell me what I owe.
