Oh no! Not the immaculate paint job. This is where having an Imagination-Mobile (tm) comes in handy.

It's a bitch, but it's harsh. Laser guided stones... bastards.

It's the ones I discover when washing... what the, "didn't even hear that one hit".

I was passing a truck on the freeway with some kind of earth moving beast on board, no problem... then he bangs over a bump in the road... it looked like 25 tonne of dry hard clay was realeased... I was in the right place to take most of it between the headlights...

But 12 months on... stone chips and I have an agreement, I don't look for them and they don't reveal themselves.

My partners XR8 ute has got a custom paint job (which most know about by now), but the point of this story is that there is an extra 2 layers of clear put ont he front of the car where the paintwork is but not on the tub. Suprise suprise, all the stone chips are on the tub, not on the bonnet.

If I get a new car i'd ask for an extra layer of clear or two to be put on at a repair department.

Being 16 months old, my XR6 came with stone chips, and minor scratches. :

Theres only 2 places where it bugs me though, and I'll be getting touch up paint ASAP.

Philbie gave me the touareg, it pushes stones and rocks out of the way, so I don't have that problem. Needless to say, I feel for his loss (of paint)

It's a fact of life, unfortunetley, as a wize man once said sh#t happen's, I looked at a very nice Mercury Silver BA XR8 ute today at one of my local car yard's, it has had a bonnet protector on because it had the little clear plug's on the bonnet and grille but no protector, but it had chip's and mark's all over it, so much for protection.

Give's me the shits everytime i wash it.
Then the other day it rolled into the shed door(stupid handbrake needs adjusting) and rubbed a few places on the front bumper straight through the paint.

Damn, sorry to hear that Philbie. Ute looks nice!

Where do you get the clear bonnet protection done? At a dealer? A mate wants to get it done to his new BA.
