Default turbo 6 - au?

thinking about getting an engine to put on a stand and buildup
want to do a turbo ford 6.
hone
pistons
rods
high'ish compression
balanced
headwork
gasket kit

large turbo running small boost at run in, but that can be wound on. So I want a decent bottom end, and flowing heads.

What options for a base engine should i be looking at?
Au xr6 engine, is my first logical thought

I do have a au xr8 at the moment and could see my self swapping the 150,000km windsor out for a high power 6.

And ditch the highish compression, You want quite the opposite.

I would be happy with no less than stock compression. To help a larger turbo get on boost quicker, with less lag. Hence the reason for a well built bottom end. Tuning will be a large element, this sort of project is basically to see how well I can build a ford 6 turbo engine 8,000/9,000 redline, do some engine dyno time and fit to a car later. Or sell it.

Which blocks?
I can get an au vct engine pretty cheap, any inherent problems?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FG-BA-BF-...item2a1291aa01

mabey ill offer $500 for the block, minus stock manifolds if no one bids

Why turbo the 6? Buy a Dart block for 3k, Single turbo kit from the states for 2k..Adapt it to fit..

Buy a Dart SHP and use your Windsor internals even? Would see 350rwkw pretty easily and a shedload of torque.. And more original then a Turbo 6 :P

Agreed, boosed 6's are fun, but not as much as a boosted 8.

Boost the v8, it sounds better and there are bolt on kits to suit the Windsor from the states. With the strong dollar, you would get a great deal online. Most kits will suit mustang from the states, but with minor adapting you would fit one to an Aussie Windsor with low boost and tonnes of torque.
