They come standard with one of two options.

Either dunlop sport max (or something like that)
or continentals. Mine has the conti's and I can't fault them, the general consensus on the xr5 forums is that they're the way to go and to avoid the dunlops.

There's also plenty of other options available, the size (225/45/R18) is quite common.

The other ones they come with are Goodyear Excellence and I speak from experience when I say to steer clear.

Mine came with Conti's and while they are a nice tyre....I'm not overly impressed with them...they wear too quickly...they don't have enough sidewall strength or grip....now before you flame me for hooning ;) I had an AU3 XR6 with mods and putting out 142rwkw(not massive I know, but I used to drive it pretty hard) with Falken RT-615's on it for over 35,000kms before they needed replacing...these continentals need replacing in about 1000-2000kms...(just had 15,000km service yesterday at 14,600kms)...

From my experience with anything Dunlop is that they are not worth wasting time on...

I will be replacing tyres soon and I will be very happy then I think.

Mike

the contis were the better tyre to have, they came std with the sport contact 2.
don't know how some people managed to wear them out so quick, there is a few who only got around 15k out of them.
i got about 37k out of them & that included 2 motorkhanas & 4 track days.
there are equal or better performing tyres for alot less money
