hi guys. oneday im getting a caravan but i want a viscount straight hard top 15ft
has to have 2 single beds at the back, table at the front and centre kitchen but i may not be able to find one like that in my price range so i thought of getting a 15ft millard or franklin with same layout and convert the front and rear or i might do a total rebuild of the framework and putting the outside sheeting back on. dont know yet. will the outside sheeting be able to be reused and will the outside sheeting still be in good condition to build it to look like a viscount that i want if i have to build it from scratch using the same floor/drawbar if i bought a old 15ft caravan from a metal recycler somewhere. can i grab some information on buying a old caravan and building a different caravan of the same length or changing the front and rear to look like what i want. reason for asking here is ive tried a caravan forum but that sites not working at the moment. |

It's something I have always wanted to do myself. Get an old school caravan for peanuts and re-build it.
What you want to do is change the look of the caravan I guess?? Are mods / changes to a caravan like a car? ie once you pass a certain point away from factory, then it needs to be inspected / certified I wonder? Don't know, just thinking out aloud. What you want to do sounds interesting however. Perhaps get something as close to how you want it as possible, then work from there. |

The old Viscount, slept in a few out Blackwater way when I was working in the late 70s, "Bottle Tree Caravan Park". Those where the days. My brother had a Chesney President 22ft that he traded on a "Chesney Shereton" lenth of the Queen Mary, lol.

where else do i get old 15ft caravans for penuts and rebuild to diffrent reusing the sheeting. i can get 15ft caravans and other caravans for around 500 at a scrap yard that takes them.
what places do i have to go to in adelaide/pt pirie/pt augusta/yorke peninsula and other sa places to get cheap as chips 15ft caravans. do you know of any. i wrote to regency park and they said theres no problem buying a caravan and making a new one provided it was originaly made before 1989 but i might write to regency park again and confirm it |
