I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the design of the American toilet as compared to the typical Australian design.
The American design is a one peice unit (no cistern) and is usually half full before you start. When it flushes there are jets that swirl the results of your effort, it then descends into the depths, leaving the toilet empty - it then refills. I really do not know what the plumbing is on them, but I suspect them to be more complex on the 'dirty' side, whereas ours are more complex on the 'clean' side. They appear to be quieter Does anyone else have any opinions as to in what ways they are superior or inferior ? |

Oh I hate those things.... but better than asian toilets!
Worse thing is that poor judgement can lead to wet fingers... gross I hate seeing it all when you are done though - thats probably the worst thing.

The European ones (Holland & Germany) are worse. Like dumping into a dry frying pan.
The American ones are like opening the lid on your top loader washing machine. All swirling around. Hotels in Asia have the same type. Asian toilets, well, prefer a field. Go the Aussie bog. |

Problem with the American ones is that you can leave skid marks all around the side of the bowl as it swirls about.
Also notice how there is always a plunger next to the toilet? They must clog a lot easier than others. Having lived over there for 4 months, I personally never had any troubles with clogging or wet fingers. Although, I was very conscious about getting your hand wet when wiping.

Ok I am the first to admit that I love a bit of toilet humour, but a thread about it is a little much. Even for The Bar quality of threads standards exist.
I can see this thread going down the crapper anyway
