Tattoo Removal

Hey my mate just got a horrible.. HORRIBLE tattoo, and i was wondering for him how and what processes there are to remove them and prices, any aftereffects like scarring and discolourate etc..

just to let you know its now solid black or colour, just a huge southern cross covering his whole back in lines, but its all too close togother and the stars are like 4 and half inches wide each

anyone had tat removals done? how much do you think it would be or if its per hour etc??? any help greatly appreciated.. and dont rag on the tat, he knows he has done wrong by himself/parents(really upset) but yeah.. he just wants to get it removed asap

My Mum had a small tat removed many years ago, the doctors cut it out with a scalplel leaving a very ugly permanent scar.

A few years ago a mate had multiple laser treatment to remve a large black tattoo from his arm
After every session the skin would blister up and scab like a real bad burn which he had to let heal before he could go back for some more pain.
6 sessions and $1000's of dollars latter you can still see it.

They go on easy and come off hard , i love my tats.

Laser treatment is the best way, minimal scarring and charged by the hour. Green is a tough colour to get rid of. My Dad was covered in tatts from his Naval years, and regreted them in later life. He spent quite a bit on removal, and because of the volume of work, it took several months to complete the sessions.

Moral here is choose carefully, it's permanent.

we all know the moral lol...

his is just plain black lines, about 2ml wide.. so it shouldnt take too long, its not shaded or coloured in anywhere, just lines.. ill tell him to see a doctor about it

That should be fairly simple to remove. Laser will leave some scarring initially, but should age well.

Yes he fortunate its not filled in, my mates tat was big tribal peice from shoulder to wrist.

if he still wants a tatt, just go in find a tatt you actually want and talk to the tattooist, they can do great coverups these days, mate had one covered came out awsome, would never know the old one was even there..

that is possibly a good idea however if it is a sothern cross over his whole back unless you get something substantial in size (full back job) or if you get 5 different ones to cover each ... but that would look just as/more whack.

He may have rushed into the tatt, but don't rush into the fix-up and double the problem.
Go see a few artists and get recommendations from them, and a doc or two as well. Then a knowledge based decision can be reached.

FWIW, I agree with the cover ups, may take time and may take a few but I think it'll be far better than removal.. just my opinion.
