Not sure how crazy a bargain this is as I optioned up a similar car on BMW's site and it was just over $67K, so I guess about $10k less than what it normally would be.
Here's the auction: link and the large thread about his endevours to get it at that price. thread Still, an M3 like that for $60k here would be might nice.....

Good on him for sticking to his guns!! If I was paying US60k for a car, I wouldn't give up either.

It's good that he finally got the result he was after. If that was me in that situation I would be fuming. The idiots who listed it should have set a reserve if they wanted a particular price for it because saying its a mistake, its not available like they did is fraud.

Sad, sad story at first...glad he got the car.
If that bunch of smelly-heads wanted a higher price, they should have put the minimal price higher... And to say it is a "mistake" is rubbish, because they had a week to end the auction and change the details and re-list. It's a nice car. But the interior...fair dinkum...give me an FG anyday! A BFII as well.

Good on him for sticking to his guns....but I would have gone for the C63 AMG which starts around US$54,000, a relative bargain considering you get a 378ci growling V8 at no extra cost
I know I know, the Beemer is a better track car and blah blah blah....

Can someone summarise the link for those of us who can't be bothered reading but want to know what happened anyway?

Basic run down. BMW Dealer listed a car on Ebay - no reserve. Guy got it for 60k and they refused to give him the car. He fought for it and got it.

One reason I hate auctions, real estate auctions are the worst.
It seems like sellers want all the benefit they can get,but without taking any of the risks. Why have a reserve at an auction,if you want a certain price, advertise it at that. What we need are new auction laws, you take the punt and if it goes well good on ya,but if it doesnt bad luck you loose. |
